Posted November 1, 2014 As someone who recently replaced their 290x in a case with excellent airflow I can tell you that yes, you will get throttled if you add another card. 290xs run SUPER hot and unless you have a blower cooler, add all that heat to the inside of your case. 290x is by no means a bad card, it's great! But it runs hot as hell and 2 of them in the same case will throttle, how much depends on your airflow. OP if you have decent (that is, any) airflow, you will be fine. the worst that can happen is you choke the top card. but then just add a fan somewhere in the case, pushing air into the top card "Unofficially Official" Leading Scientific Research and Development Officer of the Official Star Citizen LTT Conglomerate | Reaper Squad, Idris Captain | 1x Aurora LN Game developer, AI researcher, Developing the UOLTT mobile apps G SIX [My Mac Pro G5 CaseMod Thread]
 They do run hot, I still have on in a box in my closet. Also, remember in crossfire, if one throttles, they both do. (so i guess i have positive pressure? ) The positive pressure is the important thing, not for temps directly, but for dust entering from uncovered spots... (then it goes where it shouldnt and temps raise... ^^) rig: i7 4770k @4.1Ghz (delidded), Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz, ROG Maximus VI Hero, Noctua NH-D14, EVGA GTX980SC, Samsung 850 EVO 500GB, Corsair SF600, self-built wooden Case, CoolerMaster QuickFire TK, Logitech G502, Blue Yeti, BenQ GW2760HS
 The one on the top still can throttle when it try to push my 7680X1440. I even tried to leave the case open with a 300mm fan push air in.
