3570k VS 4670k

Go to solution Solved by remenomen,

After this upgrade including a 780 I don't plan to upgrade for at least 3-5 years. Which one will allow that better?

3 to 5 years? Both will do just fine, but you might want buy a Haswell for the satisfaction of being up-to date. Also showing off :P

The Sandy Bridge CPUs were released two years ago and they run brilliantly, even now.

For overclocking, though, you might want to go with Ivy Bridge because Haswell has voltage regulation on-chip, which increases temperatures quite a bit, limiting OC potential.

I am upgrading my build and I was wondering id it worth the extra money to get a 4670k over a 3570k. I am willing to spend the money and get a slightly lower end mobo but I want to know if it is worth it. There would only be about a 20-30 dollar difference.

I am looking at this combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1325554

As long as the mainboard got everything you really need, go for it. If not, well the 3570k should be good enough.

It's worth getting a Haswell CPU only if you NEED the lower power consumption and better integrated graphics. I recently got myself a 3570k, and let me tell you that Ivy Bridge doesn't really use all that much power anyway. And as for integrated graphics, if you're using a dedicated graphics card, you won't need the I-GPU.

I do use a dedicated card and I will be upgrading to a 780.

If you don't want to upgrade "soon" anyways, it doesn't matter since in 3-5 years there will be probably another socket, so the advantage of getting a socket 1150 won't be of any interest.

I don't think we will find the "right" answer. It's just up to your taste.

The 4670k is around the same price as the 3570k and even cheaper when PMed so I would go with the 4670k: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/4670k-229-97-tigerdirect-ca-1346635/

Can any one recommend a good 1155 board for 120 or less?

I only really need a 3.0 16x and a 16x1 as far as ports.

I currently use this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131824

You could also get this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128580

But the Asus one has better overclocking options, like Auto Tuning and AI Suite II.

The 3570k is significantly cheaper depending where you look. Get a cheaper i5/mobo.
