yes, you can only use thermal paste once. Once its been used, clean it off and replace it.

The pre-applied thermal paste is fine, but if you really want to use your own then yes, you must remove the pre-applied thermal paste first.

99.9% alcohol and microfiber cloth, and pea sized amount of thermal paste

Yeah since the paste will come off unevenly when you remove it from the CPU.

then he's REPLACING THE CPU

the pre applied stuff is NOT USABLE ANYMORE

Pre applied is ok for FIRST TIME, but after replacing, you HAVE to replace it.

sure, and really you could use tissue paper as well as long as its soft. (use the cotton balls or soft cloth to get rid of the little paper particles)
