Torn between these configs! Please Help!

Hey guys, I'm torn between building a system with a 5820k and a STRIX 970 or a system with a 4790k and a STRIX 980, Which build would be better for gaming? And some rendering in after effects, I know the 5820k is good for rendering but should I sacrifice getting a 980 to get a 5820k?

Thanks for the help guys!!

Hmm... Still torn... :(

Well, you did say SOME rendering. If rendering was predominantly what you'd be using it for, then I'd probably say 5820k.

The 4790K does have hyperthreading afterall (ofc).

Intel i7 4790k and the GTX 980. I think that this kind of setup is perfect for most. I do video editing and my planned build will be with an Intel i7 4790K and the GTX 970. So there's some food for thought. You don't always have to have newest and best components, I think an Intel i7 5820K is overkill for what you're gonna be doing, even with video editing. I think the 5820K is more suited for someone with a massive workstation where they're doing lots of post production work and working with very high resolution video, etc. ;)

I can't get the 980 because I'm in Australia, computer parts are expensive as hell here.

Price difference between the 4790k and 5820k is just $60

So 980 with 4790k or 970 with 5820k!

Saw your profile and can see the motherboard I'll get if I go with the 4790k, Is it a good motherboard?

Well, it's a planned build. I'm still saving for it. But from what I've heard it is suppose to be pretty damn good. ;)
