First video game you had/wanted to upgrade your computer for

Orblivion

I think I might be showing my age here, but Lego Chess was the first game that actually required 4MB of VRAM on a video card, something that I didn't realize was different from having 4MB of RAM in the computer at the time. Let me tell you, this was a big surprise and crash course into what the heck was inside a computer, and looking back a decade and a half later, it was a great learning experience that shaped the way I look at computing.  Then again, when I stop to think that my current GTX980 has a factor of 10^3 more than this requirement from my childhood, I feel old.

you shouldnt feel old, you should feel fast

guildwars 1.  i used to play in on this super shitty laptop. trying tanking as a perma-sin with 10-20 fps back in the good ol' days where it was difficult. also 600/smite having to micro my heroes.   i got really good at everything, and was by far better than anybody else i knew. when i finally got a computer that could properly handle it at over 45fps.. holy crap it was hard to get used to, i sucked at everything all of a sudden(completely threw off my timing). but it felt so damn good

How do Reavers clean their spears?

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.

I remember being disappointed in my laptop's performance with Warcraft 3, but I didn't bother upgrading until I wanted to play Crysis.

For me it was Rollcage back in 1999. I needed more ram (32mb wasn't enough) and I also ended up buying a 3Dfx Voodoo 3 2000 graphics card. After that, it ran like butter. :D

I had to buy a DVD drive to be able to install Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Most of the games I wanted were available on CD.
