AceHunter

Just got my card today and when the computer powered on i see this white led on the card, does anyone know what is it for?

There are actually two of them and the another is not on, does it mean my card has power issue?

white means it's fine. If it glows red, that's when you have a problem :)

Its a white LED, it does not glow red.

It indicates that the card is receiving power. My 770 DCUII has two red ones.

The reason the other LED is off is because this card only uses one 8 pin power connector. The second connector has been removed so the second LED will not turn on.

My 770 has both its red LEDs on because it has both connectors plugged in.

I have a pair of Strix 980s. If the power cables are plugged in, the LEDS glow white, if they are not plugged in, they glow red.

Oh I see, that must be a new feature because older cards had the LEDs red. Thats nice to know.

Yes, your card only has one PCIe power connector. You don't need to worry about the second LED, it will not go on.

The 980s have 2 LEDs because it has 2 power ports.

Also, from an ASUS post - http://pcdiy.asus.com/2014/09/tested-asus-gtx-980-strix-directcu-ii-review/

In addition the STRIX GTX 980 features a premium digital PWM offering advanced performance, superior transient response and more. Rounding out other elements are advanced fuse protectionc ircuts and power LEDs to help confirm power delivery to the GPU. As part of the total heat sink and fan assembly and the back plate you also have a brace which aides in providing stability, rigidity and reduction of torsion

It's a single LED per power port that can glow more than one colour (not that the page goes into that much detail).

Edit - I know it's a post about the 980 but it's the same vendor and the same generation so the differences wont be big.

I think it's kind of bad the LED is always on, even when the pc is turned off. But yeah my LANport remains active as well so I have a lightshow going on at night.
