PC vs Console?

neision

I just recently started PC gaming in the last few months, before that i would defend consoles the death, but after i played Battlefield 3 on the PC for the first time, that was it for me. I still have my PS3 for Japanese exclusives (And Uncharted), but there is no way it compares to the PC.

That being said, consoles have their place for people who aren't exactly good with computers, or just want to play Call of Duty. Been having some random freezing trouble in Skyrim today, didn't have that issue on the console lol

PC and a Console cannot be compared, it just boils down to which game franchises do you like. Fact is that a PC can deliver better graphics and good customization options.

But consider this, and I think this is the most important factor, money. Or the cost of buying a PC and a Console. I have not studied much, but on a general basis, a PC rig that is bought for around $800 to $1000 can give you the best gaming experience there is, where as look at a console, for this case, Playstation 3. How much do they cost? $260 to $300

That makes a huge difference.

I am not sure how it goes in the other parts of the world, but here, in India, PC games are around $20 cheaper to buy than Console games, here is a case of buying a physical DVD/BR.

Now comes portability, well not much to say, PC is not as much portable as a console would be. But I just cant resist the customization options we get in a PC, thats freaking awesome.

Anyways, there are advantages and disadvantages of both of these machines, some are as small as buying an OS for a machine to run.

And finally, I will say it one more time, it boils down to which games you play. If you like CoD, get a PC, basically play any game on a PC, which has been published on multi platforms.

But then there are games, that truly bring out the best of the consoles, and if you have played God of War/Gran Turismo[Playstation] or Halo[sorry dont know many games which are only on XBOX] or The Legend Of Zelda/Mario[Nintendo], you guys know what I am talking about.

PC- gaming with brilliant graphics on your own where the fun is losing yourself in the game.

Console- For playing lower spec games with friends where the fun is less the game more socialising.

End of the day both are good for their own reasons and this argument will rage to the end of time.

I'm all for PC gaming.

Consoles tend to die quickly and there is no way to fix a single part.

And the actual playing on a pc is a lot more enjoyable than on a console. It's fine for some games but shooters are way better with mouse and keyboard.

PC:

Advantages - Graphics, controls, FPS, all sorts of games. Also, if you have a good gaming PC you have a good PC for any task.

Disadvantages - Umm... you know... That one thing... I honestly can't think of any.

the only disadvantage: price.

I've had my 360 since it released. and my PS3 for about four years. Neither of which have broken. I've definitely spent more on upgrading my PC in the last year than I've ever spent on a console. Also the games cost the same these days unless you only buy your pc games through a steam sale. You can also trade in your console games which you can't with a PC game. Don't get me wrong PC is awesome, but your argument is flawed.

PC gaming is amazing.

The graphics are always better, you have actual upgrading options so that you can KEEP the games looking good, instead of the console always having them as low as possible to run it smoothly ( And theres still lag)

PC Generally has a much more mature gaming audience. Not as many 12 year olds playing COD on their gaming rig as on Xbox, and if there is 12 year olds on gaming rigs, they are actually intelligent beings most of the time.

Consoles burn out relatively quick. My Xbox 360 is starting to have random freeze-ups during games, and I've been noticing alot more lag than before.

Gaming on a PC is more expensive, but you are getting a much better experience.

Consoles are cheaper.

Easy to setup, don't have to be a techy to plug in an xbox and the game disc.

You will always be able to handle the newest games, so no upgrading your xboxs hardware to keep up with the newest and greatest games.

Anyway, I was playing Skyrim on my PC, but even on the lowest settings I got lots of lag, because my PC is crap. So, what did I do? I picked up skyrim for 20$, plugged it in my xbox, and played away. I still get lag on the xbox, but it is a heck of alot more manageable that what I had before.

Pc gaming is so much better imo. I also own a xbox 360 s which is also connected in my room. Pc you have the freedom to pick and change the hardware to your liking. Console is just a cheaper option to choose with decent graphics not as good as dedicated gpu's in computers. Heating can be an issue with consoles like the 360. My vote goes to PC!

PC:

Advantages - Graphics, controls, FPS, all sorts of games. Also, if you have a good gaming PC you have a good PC for any task.

Disadvantages - Umm... you know... That one thing... I honestly can't think of any.

Disadvantage: sofa + keyboard and mouse = you die bro. Talking mainly fps, the accuracy is so much higher with a mouse you get destroyed if you just wanna chill back on the sofa

I believe PC reigns supreme.

Advantages: Much better graphics, higher resolutions (doesn't apply to most), more precise controls, and, from my experience, a much better, more supportive and friendly community.

Disadvantage: Price; I realize there are very low-cost PC gaming solutions out there, but in order to really appreciate what PC gaming has to offer, you have to spend a bit more than you would on your average gaming console.

I would say that the fact that everyone already has a pc negates this. If someone wants a new pc, if they bought a custom build instead and payed 200-300$ more for the pc gaming bits, it would be about the same price as a console.

This is my stance on PC or Console:

If your friends have consoles, get a console.

If your friends have PCs, get a PC.

I say this because I'd much prefer having friends to play with then to be playing with randoms or single player all day.

You sir, have been watching woody's gamertag.

A console is okay if you have a group of friends to play with online.

I prefer PC because I can customize it and it has better graphics, also I have the ability to do other things where as an console owner would need a PC either way. I also think it is cheaper because I can do so many other things where as a person with an console would have to buy a cheap PC and that plus the console would be the price of a gaming PC and the gaming PC can do everything better.

Consoles are much more portable than desktop PCs are. They are also optimized for all the games they run and they don't require much of any computer skills to use them. PCs are the opposite, much better graphics but not necessarily something that you can easily bring with you when you are going on vacation. Sounds awfully like my current situation for about another week. sigh

If this was supposed to be a conflict free forum why are people creating these Intel vs AMD, Nvidia Vs AMD and PC vs Console threads. Cant we stick to discussion based topics instead ones which will provoke conflict/negativity/hating/trolling .

P.s I bought a PS3 a few years back because it was what my friends had and played. The majority of active gamer's probably fall into the age bracket between early teens and late twenties so are less likely to be able to afford the hardware required to build a good gaming PC. Add to this that building a gaming PC requires an extra level of tech interest/savviness which many people simply don't posses. Console is simply a much more accessible platform for the majority of people. (not saying that i doesn't have its hardcore gamers because it does).

I have recently built a gaming/all round good PC because i was tired of slow laptops and slow consoles. It has been up and running for about a weak now and so far I am very happy and it was watching Linus' videos which got me to this point :)
