Posted October 20, 2014 At work but will try to keep up with the tread. My question is: is there a difference between the new gray noctua fans and the old barf brown fans? I just ordered my x61 ago and want to swap the fans. Would have liked something with led lighting built in but I would like my cooler to be the best it can be. Thank you for your help. Posted October 20, 2014 grey is industry grade i believe (ie:better build quality is server grade component has more rpm's compared to old brown) Details separate people.
Posted October 20, 2014 They come with non premium packaging, no extras, are grey (duh) and are only available in a few varieties. Heres a video from your lord
Posted October 20, 2014 The grey ones (redux) are a more basic product, meaning they only consist of older fan designs (no nf-f12) and dont enclude all the noctua accessories like anti-vibration mounts and low voltage adaptors compared to the ususal brown fans. If you want your nf-f12 to be the best it can be, get some nf-f12s (either the standard beige ones or the even more powerful industrial ones for higher rpm) Personal Build Project "Rained-On" helped building up the CPU Overclocking Database and GPU Overclocking Database, check them out ;) #KilledMyWife #MakeBombs #LinusIsNotFunny || Please, dont use non-default grey font colors. Think about the night-theme users! ;)

Posted October 20, 2014 Author I'm a guy that will put the money into a great product to get better performance. Although I do want it to look appealing and noctua browns make we depressed. I love the grays but I do not like that they are so basic. Why noctua have you not met a happy medium for guys like me.
 Posted October 20, 2014 Check these out http://www.enermax.de/luefter/everest-adv/. They are awesome! Not as good as Noctuas though. They're similar to but pricier than Hyperboreas. grey is industry grade i believe (ie:better build quality is server grade component has more rpm's compared to old brown) The industrial fans are black. The grey fans are value oriented and have less features than the normal brown/beige fans.
