CPU cores

Go to solution Solved by SkilledRebuilds,

i just want to use it for gaming

Quadcore Minimum, Quadcore Maximum is all you need.

Most Games or programs that use a little amount of threads react well to higher singlecore MHZ due to not being able to balance out the load, 4x 3.5Ghz is better for Gaming than 6x 2.66Ghz

Most/Some Games do not scale very well above 4Core CPU let alone 2-3 cores being used and wasting money on a high end CPU can be pointless for Gaming where the GPU performance is priority.

I5 4460-4690 or if you wanna overclock down the line when it feels a little older in a few years, grab a K model CPU like the 4670K and a Z97 board, if not OC'ing the 4690-CPU+H97 boards will be fine.

so I should go with an fx 8350 instead of i7 4790k?

NO!

Having more cores for gaming does not = better

Stronger/Faster Single Cores (in Quad form) = a better experience than 8 slower cores <- again...for Gaming

Singlecore comparison

No matter how many cores you have, Games only need so much, hence using less of the total amount, you'd want Faster single core performance overall to be important.

What is the use of having 8 or 4 cores on a processor

More = Better

^IF YOU CAN USE IT

IE: Video Editing, Photo Editing, Rendering Software, CAD Software....all the heavy shit.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

heavy multitasking, heavy production, virtual machines, rendering, games that utilize multiple cores, speed, etc

cores don't always mean power though.

around 300$ for the cpu total 1400

Get an i5 4690k

even though it has only 4 cores it performs better than the FX8350

If you want to spend more, the i7 4790k performs better than both.

Neither of them is best. If you only using it for gaming, 4690K is the best CPU to get. 4790K would be a waste of money

C12 is... eh, especially considering the 750D is huge. Either save some bucks and get a 212 EVO or step up to a better tower like a U14S
