Upgrade to the FX-8320 or upgrade to the G3258 (lol why does this beat the FX 6300 for way less)

I personally don't see the point of buying a pentium to later upgrade.

Instead (if possible) get a loan, with a decent rate.

That is an different story then.

However it would be a cheaper solution in the long run.

Hmm. Should I get a Sempron 145 for the extra AM3+ motherboard and keep the FX 6300. Or get the 8320 and put the 6300 in the other board.

Going from 6300 to 8320 for gaming is not going to give you an increase in performance.

Focus all of your resources on getting an Intel.  There is an i5-4690k + Asus Z97-Pro for $337 on Newegg.com right now.

Huh. I have a Hyper 212 EVO. Would it be worth getting a motherboard and a K processor to overclock?

probably.

But if thats too much $ theres no shame having a 30$ cooler on a locked CPU it will just run cooler and quieter...

Yes, but if funds are a constraint, it is better to get an i5 than no i5.  With a locked i5, at least you have an i5, and the Hyper 212 EVO is still going to perform better and be more quiet than the stock cooler.

I wonder if you can use the $10 off DYMP10 code on that deal

You're limited to just 1 promo code per transaction on Newegg.  Use the Visa Checkout, it gives you 10% off, up to $20.  Pair that with the $20 MIR, and the total drops down to $260, which is incredible for that CPU + mid-high end mobo.

I have an R9 290 with an FX 6300.

In that case, you want an i5 minimum to get full potential out of your gpu.

I Game, Stream and Video render. I was thinking of picking up the G3258 and a cheap board and it seems to do better in gaming compared to the 6300 and I can at least upgrade to a new i5 compared to being stuck at the 8320

If you stream or render, then pretty much the G3258 is out of the question. It can still probably render and stream, just not the best at it.

Because there's practically no game that can take advantage of all 8 cores. In most games an FX-4300, 6300 and 8320 will perform practically the same since it's the same two or four cores that are being used, whatever else is left is just sitting there doing next to nothing.

@Bit8xPr0 why not get a G3258 now and upgrade to a 5670K (or whatever they're gonna call it) later?

G3258 is actually on par and bit ahead 8350 in gaming and when you overclock G3258 it beat that crap of it lol

Again, this is not a surprise. Many games use only two cores. In those games, the G3258 can put out every single drop of it's power to run that game, while the 8350 will have two of it's cores doing all they can while the other six do nothing.

Video editing though can use all the cores you throw at it, so it'd be two cores of the G3258 vs all eight cores of the 8350, obviously the G3258 will get whooped. Even if you had two 16-core Opterons, video editing and rendering with proper programs will use all 32 cores.

Thats completly not true even in single core games. The G3258 bairly keeps up with an I3 when overclocked. And I'm a Intel fan and would love that to be true
