Slow HDD!

Go to solution Solved by MasterRaceFanBoy,

I don't understand chinese... please English.

I mean, do you keep the games in to your HDD and not SSD?! ..

1. Defragment your HDD with defraggler full run, it will take... some time.

2. Do a disk clean up.

3. Run a CHKDSK with command prompt.. but better do it this way. Right click on your HDD -> properties -> tools-check now -> check scan for and attempt.. -> start -> cancel -> schedule disk check. Restart and let it do his job. /!\ DU NOT FORCE RESTART OR CLOSE THE PC WHILE IS CHECKING /!\

Let me know if things have changed.

I'm having a slow hhd...this get bottlenecks? Games lagg while playing Battlefield 4 lagging on med settings while the GTX 760 can hadle that fine

Try defragmenting the hard drive & clean up those crappy files from your drive, most probably not a physical issue or bottlenecking. Do not defragment the ssd tho, it's a bad practice. clean up the registry & sweep it with a few disc cleanups

Details separate people.

yes defragging a SSD is a bad idea, but if you do it like every 6 months it would be totally fine and the performance would be a decent increase if the drive is relatively full.

nO, NONONONONONONONO. NEVER EVER defrag an SSD. It's pointless and detrimental to the performance.

First off, note that a slow HDD should NOT affect game performance at all. Like, whatsoever.

Both should be fine. The CPU should be more than enough. Check the temperatures on both the GPU and the CPU and the HDD during BF4. Monitor it using speccy (Easy to use, won't show graph though). For a max value use HWiNFO or HWMonitor

defraging is bad for ssds because it adds lots of wrights and reads to it. but doing it once or twice a year has proven to increase performance. correction to my self, only in some cases

BUT PLEASE if auto defrag is on weekly TURN IT OFFFFFF

It's so many writes and reads it's not worth it unless you have an SSD with ridiculous total write capacity.

btw, Dell was so retarded to actually have my tablet auto defrag every week.... it has a ssd in it...

Unless you have a massive library that is installed then 1TB should be completely fine for damn near everybody

500GB of games are easily backed up to a 1TB external HDD.

Not gonna defrag an SDD trough i'm not dumbass xD

Running 50°C while playing on HIGH-end games

Windows 8 Pro is also kinda crappy ... working fine trough doing updates no scam has Antivirus/Malware/CCleaner/Tuneup programs on it

I will put a link "how to install windows 8 pro WITHOUT using a bootable usb?" HERE!!! later on (Blue meens the post is online)

Okay so I read a few. First off its not defrag, next you said a "cracked Windows 8" that would be an issue. Your game should be on the SSD with the OS. Otherwise a GTX 760 will not run BF4 smoothly on ultra with AA. So what are your settings? I suspect a bad install with the Crack and poor file optimizations

Another thing a "Slow HDD" is not going to cause lag in game. Once your maps load into memory the drive pretty much does very little. Lag is a bandwidth issue somewhere. Heat, Driver, slow specs, resolution off, bad memory can cause lag.

Also if you have lag you should check your frame rates. Without test how will your know its getting better? When running BF4 key up the fram rates and report back

SHOW FPS   Press ~ key TYPE: perfoverlay.drawfps true
