For?

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!

When there is no danger of failure there is no pleasure in success.

For gaming: Fast 4-core

For low-threaded tasks in general: Fast 4-core

The only thing the slow 8 core really excels (if it does at all) is rendering and that's only if the raw power of the 8 slow cores combined is higher than that of the fast 4-core

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

For gaming and general use, fast 4 core

for workstation/ rendering, slower 8 core

How many computer programmers does it take to change a light bulb?

None, that's a hardware problem.  :D

Thanks everyone.

How about FX-8320 vs Phenom II 980

I already have the Phenom II 980

Is it worth for me to upgrade my cpu to FX?
Or its better i upgrade my GPU to R9 270X?

I never use my PC for Workstation/Rendering
Always used for gaming like CSGO,DOTA2 or with GTA V :P

Well... the FX-8320 is obviously better than that phenom...

The problem is, it probably won't be compatible with your MB, since it's an AM3+ CPU

My MB already AM3+ man

Man you are probably better off getting a better graphics card. The Phenom II is a very deceant CPU for gaming and CPU has a much lesser effect on the game performance then the GPU.

Shifter  :D

MSI 970-Gaming

I'm running an 8350 on that, its perfect.

I'm struggling to push the CPU to 100% gaming wise also got 280 rather than 270 if you can, I was quite disappointed by mine.

Well... The 8320 should have faster cores overall even in single thread.
