Sony Vegas Alternative

Go to solution Solved by SergioC120,

I've heard  good things about this program https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve but i have not used it i think is free

Hey there yall.  I tried out the demo of sony vegas and really liked it, but obviously dont have deep enough pockets to get it.

Are there any alternatives that have similar features for free/not exorbitant amounts of money?

I'd prefer people with actual experience with an alternative to SV.  I can google search alternatives, but I'm a lazy bum and cba to review them all myself.

thanks in advance for any and all suggestions

There's Lightworks, but it's extremely hard to use. I uninstalled it after 5 minutes of trying to learn how to use it.

I use Premiere Pro personally, though I actually find myself often using After Effects instead. It's not at all the same kind of program, I'm just way more comfortable using AE than Premiere.

I've used Resolve a bit too, seems like a better tool for color grading and encoding footage than it is for editing.

My vote's definitely for Premiere though. :)

Just to add, DaVinci Resolve is primarily a Color Correcting and Color grading software. Though it's targeted predominantly on those people who use it for that purpose, you can still do some editing.

I use Premiere Pro in conjunction with DaVinci. Premiere for the editing, Resolve for grading.
