120GB SSD enough?

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

Yes but get a 250GB SSD if possible.

yes, though 256GB drives have gotten really cheap, you can get a MX100 256GB ssd for $100-$110. I just bought it and switch from my 120GB 840

Are hybrid HDD worth it? Would it be close to a SSD?

separate SSD+HDD is far better than a hybrid drive. Never buy a hybrid drive unless you need it in a laptop that only has 1 drive bay :)

Oh ok then, whats the rest of your build?

PLEASE USE PcPartPicker.

Wtf is with your obsession with people having to use PCPP? No body does it. Also the Black is a lot more  than the blue for a very minor increase in performance. Definitely not worth it

Is a 120/128GB SSD enough for just OS and other stuff (like Desktop stuff) enough? I would have a separate 1TB WD Caviar Blue for games and programs.

yea but 256 is reccomended 128 is a little low as it gets filled up fast

Please follow your topics guys, it's very important! CoC F.A.Q  Please use the corresponding PC part picker link for your country USA, UK, Canada, AustraliaSpain, Italy, New Zealand and Germany

Why not, It makes it easier to find parts that are compatible?  And ok then about the WD Black.

Because he had a hard drive.

Really...

Why not?

A black really only helps if you have no SSD since they are high preforming mechanical drives. If you are planning to use an SSD and the HDD is just for programs and files the added speed will be negligible and not worth the extra cost.

Its so damn nice to have your main games on SSD though for the speedy load times - I'd strongly recommend at least a 240-256GB SSD + standard HDD for storage.

Yeah I heard that, for example, BF4 was a game that would benefit from a SSD

Maybe I should save a little more

For a basic pc for surfing and spreadsheet work and other basic stuff yes 120 GB SSD should be enough.

I would use the SSD just for OS and basic programs, but the overall build would be used on gaming, light video editing and 3d rendering and a bit of coding
