Operating system on SSD?

Its better to have strong 4k read speeds... But as your thread title says an SSD is always better than a HDD for OS

@jonn. Read. Operating system is mostly reading. Write speeds make it faster to install things, but once everything's set up, it effects far less stuff than read speed.

same goes for games, they spend most of their time reading rather than writing (until you save)

it is best to have high 4k iops read and write as that is most of what the is is doing

ah okay so i have a choice to install the OS on a Plextor M5 pro or a OCZ Vertex 4 (vertex being higher write speeds but lower 'mixed iops'?) anyone have experience with these?

Just choose any SSD, you probably wont notice the speed difference...
