WD Black HDD are way faster than traditional HDD.

Only if you get the velociraptor that spins @10.000 RPM. Most WD Black are 7200 RPM.

WD's are generally more reliable to be completely honest.

Seagate and Western Digital are main competitors. I've always had WD storage and they have never failed me. IMO they're quality is much better than Seagate. However, I'm not sure this warrants a 90 SGD price difference. What's the original price of the Seagate?

I think if you go to Sim Lim the Hitachi (non-branded) drives tend to be cheaper, and quite reliable.

My brother has had a few in his system since 2009 and not a single problem.

Toshiba, on the other hand, has failed me twice in two years.

If I backed up my data I wouldn't have a problems with Seagate.

I'm running 2 500Gb WD Velociraptor drive in raid 0 for my postprod session in my computer. Been running almost 24/7 for over 2 years now and I never had a single problem with the raid.

They are fast but expensvie compared to traditionnal 7200RPM drives.

I can see fanboys already...
I've used(in the same machine at one time) 4 WD drives(3 blacks and a blue) and 6 Seagates (4 baracudas and a SSHD) trust me the difference between
Blue Black and Baracuda is within 5MB/S it's not noticeable assuming same cache (64MB) and Speed (7200RPM)  nearly identical speeds are to be had...
Reliability is mostly luck and personally I have A Black and A Blue left from my WD drives vs 3Baracudas and an SSHD also note: Other than the SSHD they were all in a raid at my work's server experiencing identical loads...  The SSHD was for booting and specific programs...

The difference would probably be negligible from the two. Reliability wise they're probably about equal. I know many people with Barracuda's that have been running for 3+ year, and I've had a Blue fail on me after a year, so it's more the luck of the draw. From my experience, they're both great drives.
