Temps looking ok for 5960x?

Go to solution Solved by LtRoyalShrimp,

My idle is ~38-44C, but I'm OC'd at 1.28v 4.375ghz...also on a custom loop, H60 will be dicey for load if you have roughly the same temps as mine

Idle temps are in the high 30's. Load temps at stock dont go over 60c(30 minute Aida64). Im happy. Have not done any OC yet, but it seems there is some room for it.

Hi guys,

So I installed my 5960X on my MSI Gaming X99 AC, and the idle temps using a Corsair H60 are 40C. It sounds find to me, what do you guys think? This is stock btw. Any overclocking recommendations?

perhaps a little too high,

mid 30's are my preference at idle but not too dramatic that you should worry, for daily use just go with 4ghz

Depends on ambient temp. The H60 is a bad AOI btw (with stock fans it's even worse).

i can vouch for the h60 being crap,

Look at load temps. Fire up OCCT or AIDA64 and stress it out.

Idle doean't say much. Whats the load temp? The H60 is a very minimalistic cooler for an extreme edition CPU.

I'd recommend a bigger cooler like a Noctua NH D15 oR a swiftech H220X. Or even custom watercooling.

I will not be OCing.
