So a couple of days ago I bought a few parts to get my pc together and when I tried to mount the cooler to the board I came across a problem. The board holes didn't quitee aline with the cooler. I have a msi z97 gaming 5 which is a soket 1150 and in the cooler manual says it works with the 1150 soket. So is it dificult to mount or did it come defective?

Thanks in advance!

Are you sure you're using the correct mounting hardware? Read the manual that came with cooler. It's no shame to read a manual when it comes to this.

Are you mounting it in the right orientation?
Are you using the 1150 mounting bracket specified in the instruction manual?

I had this issue, it's a simple fix. The little thumb screws need to be push all the way down and turned sideways to be placed in the middle hole of the mounting bracket. Took me 15 minutes to figure that out. Im dumb. But it's okay.

Maybe some pictures would be useful.

Yea I mounted the pc already with the stock cooler so I think there's not much I can show. I think the cooler is not defective but difficult to mount... The mounting thing it comes with does not aline with the board holes which is stupid... I think I might take it to some tech store and let them try to mount it. I hope they don't fuck my pc up xD.

What do you mean by sideways?

There are three places for screws in brackets. You need to push screw down and move it to middle one. It can be hard and frustrating and manual isn't really helping. But I have installed 212 in same mobo so it will fit fine.
