Will this be a hardcore gaming PC?

Hey guys

I have recently bought 2 asus STRIX GTX 970 cards and I am planning on buying the other hardware soon so I can start building (this will be my first build)

Could you please tell me if this will be a great gaming pc or if there will be any bottlenecks?

I am planning on buying the following parts:

Motherboard:

Asus ROG Maximus VII Ranger

Graphic cards:

2x Asus STRIX-GTX970-DC20C-4GD5

Processor:

Intel Core i5-4690K

Case:

Corsair Graphite 780T

Cooling:

Scythe Mugen 4 PCGH Edition

Internal memory:

Corsair Vengeance Pro CMY8GX3M2B2133C9r

HDD:

Seagate Desktop HDD 3TB

SSD:

Samsung 840 Series Pro 256GB

Power:

Corsair HX750i

I would really appreciate your help and opinion.

No bottlenecks, I also hope this build is for above 1080p gaming because that is what it's capable of currently.

The 4690k wouldn't be a bottleneck, especially if a little oc'd... Id go for Gigabyte's 970, but i like asus too for gpus that they make... I would also go with a little more beefy psu, but is ok, seen the low power consumption of the 970s...

And as Coombzy said, this is really powerful, much more than needed for 1080p 120Hz at ultra...

YOU HAVE 2 970s?! That might bottleneck...

Follow the topics you create using the "Follow" button in the top right corner!

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

Looks fine to me, just to let you know a full system with a single 970 doesn't have a problem running on a little 500W power supply. A 650W power supply should be fine, also please put the parts in a PCPartPicker list, it makes things so much easier. :)

why are people so worried about bottlenecks? with a modern CPU it is really hard to create a bottle neck!

With an i5 it will be a great gaming pc. With LGA2011, it will be a hardcore gaming pc.

Why would you need a 3TB hard drive? Get 2 1TB's and raid them. And you maybe if wanted could get a other aio liquid cooler

Or just get a 2TB hdd... (it cost less than 2 1TB in RAID)

You should be able to get the EVGA Supernova G2 psu for less than the Corsair.

What are you one of those "4 cores is best" submasterrace. Lga2011 will always be better. To be hardcore u need high end parts, I wouldnt classify i5 as high end. I3 i5 I7, low mid anx high end cpus.

If you don't classify an i5 4690K as "high-end" there is something wrong. It's a very capable CPU... 2011 is a waste unless it's for professional use at this current time and that is not set to change anytime soon.

LGA2011 is an old old socket now. The X99 LGA2011-v3 replaced it. So yes LGA2011 is outdated.

You don't need to go X79/X99 to build a 'Hardcore' gaming pc. The graphics card is more important in the majority of games.
