5930K super low temps?

Thanks for making me realize the true potential of my chip. What the hell. I don't even own that.

when its idle and browsing the net I can run it fully passive with my H110 ... coretemps will be arround 48c

its a HUGE difference in comparison to Sandy bridge E

Guys please pray for me that when I buy 5820k I should win the Silicon lottery. If that happens I swear I am gonna do a giveaway.

yup, most of them are for Dry ice and LN2 tho! even my Impact has an LN2 mode

I am sooo happy with my chips , my 3930K does 5.2ghz , and 4.5ghz 24/7 .

how fast are you running those Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 16gb 2666?

I was playing around with them yesterday, when I posted them to 2666 it would stall on boot, I have no idea why but I'm gonna load the xmp 2.0 file later today and see if that works. After the ram is running I will be able to play with the cpu :D

thats typical for x99

you also get the post code FB or BF. basically if you go over 2133mhz your overclocking the onboard memory controller. and you can fix that with the BCLKSTRAP.

But for 24/7 I don't mind losing a little bit of memory performance for better stability , also you can lower the timings on 2133mhz.

The rampage V is very buggy when going over 2133mhz

dont bother with the XMP , it is not always stable , also you get some weird ass frequencies like 4133 turbo boost.

I am glad I didnt waste 100 extra euro for more expensive ram... I chose those LPX vengeance´s , I should have waited for the ripjaws

I think the ram will change when the new bios's are release from Asus. I know one has to be on the way My Mobo doesn't always boot straight into windows it tries then goes to the bios lol. #firstworldproblems   #brandnewchipsetproblems

You've probably been blessed with a golden CPU. OC it the most you can up until 1.3V. (I like to stay at around 2.5-2.7V max)

Those temps arent that mindblowing.

They are just good.

it depends allot on your ambient

AMD temps are measured differently and the source of the temp is completely something else. On AMD you can only monitor the socket temp, Intel you can monitor the cores as well.

This is a post from someone who's working at AMD named Alex Cromwell; http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=446&threadid=160921&enterthread=y

Basically he says AMD uses algorithms that are hardcoded in the cpu to calculate the temperate, unlike on Intel you get the raw data from the sensor, the warmer the CPU becomes the more accurate the reading becomes. Atm my socket is at 28° but cores are at 40°. Around 70° socket temp, I'm hitting 88° thats a few degrees of the Tjmax.

yeah i know.

If i monitor my core temps i get value´s like 15C or somethimg.

This offcourse can never be the case.

So for AMD i allways look at the socket temps.

I can also tell you, wenn my socket temp goes arround 65C my system just stops working lol.

Intel is totaly diffrent. you can messure there on the cores indeed.

Also intels thermal limit is much higher then amd´s limit

I personaly allways have the idea wenn my AMD cpu reached about 55+ C on the socket, that the cpu allready starts to get unstable for some reason.

But yeah im a bit done with AMD like i said before lol :)

Do have the x-socket enabled?

X-socket is not something you can enabled, It's just Asus fancy name on the RVE where you can change out the cpu socket's backplate, for LN2 installations. Go look at your motherboard box, there should be a cpu backplate, that is the "X socket". They do have something call OC socket, but there doesn't seem to be a option to actually enable it. It says it enables onces you OC. Is it really working? Don't really know.
