Yeah it will bottleneck a lot. Any GPU really, it will reduce the framerate by about 10-20% sometimes more depending on the game.

I'd throw something like an r9 270(x) or similar in there and call it a day. With games that support mantle, you'll be doing ok, and otherwise you will get less FPS than if you had a more powerful processor, but it will still play most stuff at 1080 medium to high with no real problems.

Desktop: AMD Threadripper 1950X @ 4.1Ghz Enermax 360L  Gigabyte Aorus Extreme   Zotac 1080Ti AMP Extreme  BeQuiet! Dark Base Pro 900  EVGA SuperNova 1000w G2  LG 34GK950f & ASUS PA248Q Klipsch Reference/Audeze Mobius

Synology Wireless AC-2600

Laptop: Alienware 17R5   Intel i7 8750H  Nvidia GTX1080   3840x2160 4k AdobeRGB IGZO Display   32GB DDR4 2133   256GB+1TB NVMe SSD    1TB Seagate SSHD   Killer 1550 Dual-Band Wireless AC

Thing is... you can put a highend GPU in there and still be @ 99-100% usage.

Thing is again... the CPU being slower than the other higher end CPU's, can only manage to pump out so much with what it has available.

So the Game Client Window, rendering in all its glory GPU bound with 99% usage, your FPS will still be lower than a higher specced CPU with the same graphics card. (Not by enough to make it unplayable, but enough to warrant upgrading for extra performance)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
