Fan is certainly on the extreme side... Usually I dont buy more than 2 additional fans.

The H100i is quite old, how about the H110 or Kraken X61 or H220-X instead?

Stay away from the ASRock Mobo :P it dont usually have any problem, it just something I dont trusted~ Get a MSI Z97 G45 or Gaming 3-5 from either MSI or Gigabyte instead.

After you remove those extra fan you might be able to get a 980, but... at 1080p gaming, I dont think it's necessary.

I don't think that spending $168 worth of fans is exactly the best idea ever...

@vern021's build is almost twice as good for only a little bit more, although if you got a cheaper cpu cooler you could make them basically the same price. (e.g. Coolermaster hyper 212 evo)

CPU: Intel Core i5 4460 | GPU: XFX r9 280x DD BLACK OC EDITION | RAM: 8gb Kingston HyperX Fury 1600Mhz | Mobo: Gigabyte h97n-WIFI | PSU: EVGA 600B | Case: Cooler Master Elite 120 | Cooler: Stock intel | SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120gb | Storage: WD 150 gb

CPU: Intel Core i7 4710MQ | GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 850M | RAM: 8gb Corsair 1600Mhz | Mobo: Metabox WA50SJ Motherboard | Case: Metabox WA50SJ case | Cooler: Stock | SSD: Sandisk 256gb

Best purchase this year, bcuz forza

so, which fans should i keep? rear 140, 2 for water or 3 front?

2-way SLI optimized simply means that you gan SLI 2 GPUs. I suggest that you get a 60Hz 1-5ms 1440p IPS monitor(with thin bezels). Build's pretty overkill if you ask me. :D

Hahahaha. I think you only need 1 GTX 970 ;) Having two with only one 1080p monitor is overkill. :D
