R9 280 AMD help please

Hi I wanted a amd r9 280 3gb GPU but it says it wants a 750watt minimum PSU and I wanted to buy a 750 watt corsair builder CPU and an i5 (LGA 1155) will this PSU be OK? I also want 8gb of ram in future

You don't need a 750W PSu but sure, that PSU is fine.

Ehhh, it would probably cope (I'm not saying 750w is just barely enough, I'm saying it's a bad model) but the builder series isn't exactly a decent series of power supplies.

 

Again, 750w is more than enough.

I had a 4.8Ghz overclock on my i7 2600K and a heavily overclocked 7950 (280) and I used a 650w Coolermaster PSU, never had any issues.

The PSU I used isn't a performance/enthusiast PSU either.

 

So for a reference of my overclocking on both parts on a lower watt PSU and having no issues. a 750w will be fine, and do the same job (just a little quieter)

What... almost nobody needs a 1kW power supply. Especially for this kind of system.

Tru I am running dual 7970s and at peak consumption I am at 650 so i might end up using it more when i go to a quad setup. but great expandability.

Yeh in future I want a blue ray drive 4 hard drives and 1 solid state drive not planning on overclocking though

A good quality 600w/650w PSU is more than enough.
