Do You Memorize Your Specifications?

miyabwah

I just know them, I didn't memorize them on purpose, but who wouldn't know what's inside the PC you built?

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

If you built it, its burned in there wasn't a need to memorize it.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

I'm going to have to agree with what alot of others have said.

The model of all the parts just gets drilled into you after doing all the research and building. I also remember the specs of my laptop, just because I used it fairly regularly.

True enthusiasts typically know what they're running and it's not a matter of committing it to memory, it just naturally sinks in.

May I ask why you have a mini-ITX motherboard in an ATX case? (Just curious)

I have the GA-H87N-Wifi in a Fractal Node 304. ;)

Off the top of my head, yes. I remember most of them, but I can never seem to remember what specific motherboard I bought.

Something, something, something, famous quote, computer specs, and stuff...

I have a lot of things memorized. My bank card number, my credit card number, all the info for each. I have bundles of things memorized, names, dates, the whole 9 yards.

My friend was amazed how I knew my bank card number when buying something on steam, without checking if it was right (it has 17 digits though). I thought it was no big deal

Yes, I also know my specs, if you have a PC, and you bought it yourself, you're supposed to know that

Not only have I memorized my specifications, I know by heart most of the components in my family's PCs as well. My system has an i5-4670k at 4.0 GHz at 1.20 volts for the moment, 2x4 GB ADATA CL9 1333 MHz RAM and 1x8 Kingston HyperX CL9 1600 MHz RAM @1333 MHz, an ASUS R9 270 1050 MHz core/1500 MHz Memory, a Toshiba 1 TB 7200 RPM drive, a Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM drive, some generic CD drive that I never bothered to look up, a Coolermaster HAF 912, a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo, a LEPA N Series 500 watt PSU that will soon be replaced by a CX600, and an ASUS Z87 Plus motherboard. Oh, and my monitor is a 1920x1080 Dell S2209W screen with a 5 ms screen response time, and it's a TN panel.

My Dad has a 4 lb or so MacBook Pro with 16 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SATA SSD, an i5-2510E CPU (as close as I can figure), Intel integrated graphics, and I think a 1280x800 screen. 13.3 in.

My sister has a Lenvo ThinkPad Edge E420 with 4 GB of RAM, a 500 GB HDD, an i5-2410m CPU, Intel integrated graphics, and a 1366x768 glossy TN panel screen.

My brother's I'm a bit shaky on. The only time I used it was when I was with my mom taking it to his college. I created an account for him and later he said he didn't remember making one, which was kind of funny. Anyway, it has, currently, 8 GB of RAM, a 1 TB HDD, a dual-core 2nd generation i7, an nVIDIA Quadro of some description with a 64-bit bus and that is a little slower than my old PowerColor Radeon HD 6670 GDDR3. I dunno about his screen, but it's probably 1366x768.

My mom has a Mac Mini with a 3rd generation dual-core i5 at 2.5 GHz, I THINK, with Intel integrated graphics, 4 GB of RAM, a 500 GB HDD, and an old, beige-colored CRT screen from like 20 years ago. She still uses it, even though we have a spare LCD screen or two.

My grandpa has two PCs, one really old one with a 533 MHz Pentium III, 512 MB of RAM, an 80 GB HDD, and some really old, really basic ATi GPU.

His other one has a Pentium E8400 @3.0 GHz, 6 GB of RAM (Though his OS is 32-bit for some reason), a 500 GB HDD, and a 1366x768 Lenovo-branded screen. The 1080p Dell screen I have used to belong to him, and he temporarily used the old Pentium III computer with it, which made me laugh.

I guess Grandpa also has a Samsung laptop, which he doesn't use much anymore since I often use it, even though it's sometimes slow, which has an i3-2310m, 1x4 GB of RAM (Curse you single-channel on integrated graphics!), a 250 GB HDD, and a 15.6 inch, 1366x768 screen. The laptop weighs a ton, and it gets really hot when playing Age of Empires II HD, an "HD" remake of a classic RTS game. So, yeah.

I could also mention the other 6 and 1/2 computers we have lying around, but two are broken (HDD + plug and play config. error on one, burst capacitor on the other), one was cannibalized when I used some of its parts for my new PC, one's an old server with, I think, dual Xeons that I got for free, but I can't check since nothing outputs to the display and I need a PCI or PCI-X graphics card to make it work, and the HDDs look corroded and junky, but if they're sealed, they may still work, and two are old and still working. One is my dad's old MacBook Pro 17.3 in. that frequently overheats the RAM and causes artifacts and weights waaaay too much, and the other is an old GateWay Pc with an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ and ATi graphics, as well as 2 GB of RAM and Windows 8.(1). I dunno about the hard drive.

And that's about it. :D

Why is the God of Hyperdeath SO...DARN...CUTE!?

Also, if anyone has their mind corrupted by an anthropomorphic black latex bat, please let me know. I would like to join you.

I think most people who build their own PC's can pretty well rattle off the parts that are in it.

If anyone built their own PC then I don't see how they couldn't know their specs by heart.

Don't really understand why its hard for people to remember specs, I remember my specs, my moms laptop specs, and my school macbook pro specs :P, and the specific core on macbooks isn't easy to find sometimes....

I feel like if anyone has built their own PC they should most definitely remember what's in it. A lot of my friends have gaming PC's but they were built by either myself or my other techy-friend and I can see why they wouldn't remember what they have.

I don't think I'm ever just going to "forget" that I have an i5-3570k, etc.
