Will we really need 6gb of vram for highest settings?

Erm, as far as I know those specs were generated from the Xbox One and PS4's memory, and seeing as they have 8GB of RAM (VRAM too, because they have APUs), so they probably got some retarded clams to say that the same goes for PC.

Which it doesn't btw.

"generally the case"

More like should be the case, but unfortunately it isn't.

I hope so too

i have 2 780s and an i5 and my cards may not even run sli when this game hits but i am pretty confident i can hit 60 easily on one card with these so called ultra textures. if it runs as bad as dead rising 3 then i should be perfectly fine hitting 50-60 at 1440 (my  vram usage was maxed in DR3)

Eventually we will. 0.5Gb cards were common only years ago, and were sufficient back then.

Oh I know we eventually will, but it sucks if the game truly requires 6gb vram, then it'd suck because the 6gb cards are way to expensive and aren't aimed at consumers I believe.

I consider the 970 a high end card, it'd suck that it won't be able to run it.

Well, I don't feel so stupid now for buying the R9 280 with 3GB of VRAM.

If the game was designed for consoles, that means the actual code would only take 2GB of RAM if the max texture size is used on the PS4 or Xbox.

Methinks something doesn't look quite right here about those specs.

I have a 4gb 770, so I'm not that worried. It's just if the 6b thing turns out to be true...

I'm gonna have a Bill Gates moment and say... I don't think games really need 6GB of textures.

If they do, they better look incredible.

PS- High five for large VRAM!

I can believe 6GB might be necessary with texture packs.

I have 4GB of VRAM and my modded version of Skyrim hammers it with only a few texture mods. A supposed "next gen" game, with additional textures and on the highest settings.....it's possible.

However, I see no reason why shifting from 720p to 1080p should see that level of spike in VRAM usage. With a modded game like Skyrim it's reasonable, but for a professionally developed game it smacks of poor optimization (then again, that's also Skyrim's issue).

Well you're kinda shit out of luck if you really need 6GB, you would have to buy a titan. And I don't imagine alot of gamers with a titan. I think most gamers including me opted for the 780ti because its so much cheaper but slightly better.

Nah, just marketing. Lot's of games no are coming out saying this. Evil Within is supposed to need 4GB and considering the way it looks, it's either not true or just poor optimisation.
