My current CPU is an FX-6300

Rest of my build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/q3wsMp

Now, my processor i feel isn't giving me what i'd like... The only games i tend to play on PC is minecraft, CoD zombies, previous gen games i guess you could say. In games like minecraft, where the CPU is just as if not more than important than the GPU, my PC seems to be fairly rubbish. I mean, my old laptop probably preforms just as good on minecraft as this PC.

So i was thinking about getting rid of my motherboard and CPU and getting an Intel, probably an i3 maybe i5 4440 . OR Maybe even get a Pentium K Anniversary G3258 and overclock that, as my favorite supplier does quite a good deal with the CPU and a liquid cooler. Or would my FX 6300 overclocked preform just as good as an i3  (Would mean me spending money on a cooler).

So, fx 6300 (OC), i3 (probably a 4130) or a Pentium G3258 (OC)?

Appreciate any advice

i5-4430 or i5-4440 with a cheap H81 motheboard is what i would go for if you're on a budget.

If anything the G3258 is a downgrade from the FX-6300 and the i3 will not give you a noticable performance boost either. You'll need to aim for an i5, if possible an unlocked one. What is your budget?

This is an example of what I'd aim for:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£205.17 @ PC World Business)
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£32.99 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £263.12
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

£170 for a CPU AND Motherboard...

To be honest, i think i'm just going to buy a cooler and overclock my fx 6300 if the only real difference would be with an unlocked i5...

and get a noticable performance increase as well, but you'll lose the overclocking capability.
