Water Cooling?

Go to solution Solved by AlwaysFSX,

6 core = optimized for 4k?

I have not heard of this rule yet.

Hey Guys,

This is my first forum post. So i'm about to build my first computer. It is optimized for 4k so, i'm getting a 6-core cpu. I've heard stories about water cooling failing and I don't want to take the risk of doing it on my first build. Can I use a air fan or should I go ahead and just take a risk with water cooling?

Thanks!  ;)

You do NOT need a 6 core processor for 4k...

Where the hell do you get your information from?

In fact a 6 core (unless the 5930k) will perform worse than a 4790k.

If this is your first build, I would not recommend water cooling. Only if you plan on OC'ing your CPU should you get an AIO cooler. I would highly recommend buying an after market air cooler, something like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 for your lower - mid range and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103057 for mid - upper performence for water cooling. I bought the latter of the two when I first went from OEM heat sink to after market, and boy what a difference did it make, haha.

Think it over, I highly recommend air coolers for your first build.

Good luck!

Cheers.

Hey guys thanks for the feed back!

Btw I got most of this info from linus's build

yeah but thats a quite overkill build. you could pick up a 4790k and be ok with it. you need a good graphics card tho (970 / 980  or even a r9 290x tyhough id wait for the r9 3XX)
