So, is Linus Media Group going to do the steam curator thing?

Hans Power

I already follow TB, Jesse Cox, Jim Sterling and Tech Syndicate as steam curators and I think a Linus media group curator list would be awesome. I thought Lukes games coverage was pretty good, so far, so I'm sure it would be a worthwhile addition.

Edit: Oh, that came out wrong - I was asking, if Linus Media Group (Linus, Luke, Edzel and all the other employees) is going to do Steam curation, it wasn't directed at members of the community, although I'd be interested in your opinion of that, of course.

Maybe, when I'm not busy.

Seems cool but, I think it'll get messy. The new Steam Store layout thing isn't really simpler than the original.

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

I don't quite get what it is or how it works, can someone tell me?

Sure, it's quite easy - if you follow a curator on steam (like "Cynical Brit Gaming", for example), you see the games they recommend on the store page.

Yes, I am. I do a lot of video first impression of games on Macs, so I'll happily share the ones I really enjoyed.

It's simple a person with a steam group can recommend games they really enjoyed, in doing so they can link to written( steam or external), and video reviews.

If someone follows that person, those curated aka recommended games pop up on the steam front page.

Even if you don't follow the, a curator's recommendation is on the game's steam page with a little 152 character blurp about why they liked it.

Adding the Summary of user reviews into 'mixed', 'mostly positive', etc. at the top of each game's page is a more helpful change they added.

I think the whole Steam curator thing would be more helpful regarding games to stay away from, but I understand that would get messy pretty quick.

I meant Linus Media Group themselfs (Linus, Luke, Edzel and all the other employees), not the community - I just edited the post to make that more clear.

Messy indeed.
