So I wanted to share my Amazon customer support experience with you all, just because I though it was... well, you'll see.

So basically let me introduce the scenario: I ordered a GTX 970 the night of release, right when stock went up on Amazon (like 2am Friday, #mod24). I bought the $330 EVGA ACX one. I knew at the time that I didn't actually have the money in my bank account to pay for it, and contacted support to see what could be done. Essentially I wanted to put the order on hold so that they would reserve my card until Monday, so that I could put money into my account and have it ready to buy then, and that way I also would be guaranteed a card and a place in line. Here's how that went.

So feeling confident, I went about my business until Monday morning, when I got the notification that more money was now in my bank account. I emailed Amazon while I ate lunch, and here's how they replied.

When I got home, I heard about the ACX cooling issue and in a moment of panic, cancelled my order with Amazon after I found a Zotac 970 on Newegg for the same price. In retrospect I should have stayed with the EVGA; the cooling isn't a big deal, it looks nicer, and would get here way faster, plus would be backed by Amazon's support. But anyway, what's done is done. So I replied like so to their reply. I then cancelled the order and purchased the Zotac card, because I knew the opportunity wouldn't last (these things are in really high demand).

Anyway, I took a nap later this evening and when I woke up about an hour ago I got this email.

This blew me away. Seriously? So let's recap. They put my order on hold for an issue on MY end that was slightly inconvenient for them, and then when I noticed there was an issue, again not with them at all, they actually offered free one day shipping to guarantee I would be pleased? Jesus christ.

Unfortunately I had to reply this way, but man, if I was able to cancel my Newegg order (it's too far now), I definitely would just to buy from Amazon.

I mean, damn. I know good Amazon support is a common thing but I still felt like I had to share. I've also had good run-ins with them in the past, like for example when I purchased a mouse for my girlfriend and it wasn't there two days after the expected time, they actually shipped an entire new mouse at no cost with one day shipping and she got it the next day, and ended up getting the original mouse later that week, and they let her keep both. #basedamazon

Damn, that's pretty awesome of them. Once I bought some RAM and a CPU from Newegg and the next day those two went into a bundle for $15 less, and the support still gave me a $15 refund.

only time I've ever had an overdraft is because I got screwed over by Paypal doing retard herpderp foolery.

it's fine if you know how to manage your money.

ignore this if a random 35 'yo happens to read this post

ironically (perhaps not the word I'm looking for) I've never had to deal with Amazon CS despite ordering from them for years, though I've dealt with Newegg's and they're probably as amazing.
