Microsoft Enhance Student Plan for Office 365 - Now Free

GoodBytes

Or you buy Office 365 University. 79$ for 4 years. Buy it before graduating, and get 4 years of a low price access to Office.

It's only for 2PC and devices shared thought (so, laptop and desktop, or desktop and tablet). But it's something.

Or, like most campuses, you keep your email active by simply logging in once a year.

I maintain alumni benefits by simply logging into my University account once a year. That includes gym access, software sales; whatever. I'm sure most schools are like this, and so you can keep getting education discounts.

Yeah but then you will get a job so it probably won't be a problem to pay for it if you really need it.

Optimism is a good thing.

Not in Canada. WTF?

Check your university of information on how to get it, if you want it now.

If you have Microsoft webmail, you most likely have Office 365 for free.

Assuming you are at University of Toronto, a quick Google search lead to this, which is how to get it:

http://help.ic.utoronto.ca/content/3/1965/en/student-advantage-and-office-365-proplus.html

It was available in your case, since September 2nd.

Yeah I click on the "Find out if you're eligible" and my school never showed up. maybe I'm doing something wrong. Not sure.

Try every now and then. Maybe next week is what I am saying.

If you have a school e-mail, try contacting Microsoft, maybe they do something.

Well you can try. Make sure you have it for free, and contact Microsoft, See if they convert your membership from yearly to month, and give you the remaining (it is a bit more expensive per month than per year). If you pay per month, then just cancel it, and you are done.

10 less dollars for me to pay per month. Loved using Office 365. OneNote is great when it comes to taking notes in class. The 1 TB of cloud storage was the main reason I used to pay, but will defenitely switch over to the free version. It uses your edu email to sign in, so if you had a microsoft account, you can't use that anymore, and I think everything is tied to you edu email.

As a note, it actually should verify your current Microsoft account and then tie that in with your edu email. This is how 365 University Edition works (I know this because I was just helping a friend setup 365 University on the weekend). 'Course it might be different for the Americans? I doubt it though. You can most likely continue to use your current Microsoft account.

Contact your school, they probably have it.

As mentioned, this offer was there before, but not many schools had it, because they didn't want to provide support for it, or administrate it. All it is, is that now Microsoft manages it, and they are starting in teh U.S, but it doesn't mean that you don't have it.

I have it, and I am in Canada . In my case, I had to go to my online portal of my university, go where to create my university e-mail, in there, there is a link to make a Office 365 e-mail account. I made it, and once I log-in, and browsed around, I found the link to download it.

If you don't want to break you head go on Google, type:

<you university/college name> Office 365, and see if you kind some instructions in the first 2 pages of results.

Oh you're right. I logged into my school mail and found where you can download and install it. It's a shame it's already bound to my school mail though. I would have preferred to have it on my personal mail. It kind of makes the OneDrive benefit kind of useless (and the web GUI is really confusing for "OneDrive for business". It's different from the normal OneDrive GUI).

Office 365 can work offline, right?

Yes. Also, you can make it use multiple OneDrive accounts.

Techhog perfectly answered for me. :)

I would just like note a precaution, I would make sure to not forget to pull everything out of OneDrive before you graduate, just in the case the service stops. You don't want to lose your stuff. I just don't know how it works exactly, but I doubt it will be free forever, nor I don't know if you have the ability to upgrade automatically to paying.

So if you plan to fill that 1TB, make sure you have the time and bandwidth quota from your ISP to do this (or do it at school if you have a good connection)
