980 vs titan?

Cyrus

Don't worry, he always trolls people about Nvidia cards. He eventually stops.

I own a GTX 970 bubb LOL. I don't see your logic.

What all are you doing with the system? Im sure a Titan will still out perform a 980 during surround. Still would be a down grade to get the 900 series as of now, for me at least.

The 980 is faster than a Titan for gaming. Heck even a 970 is overall faster than a Titan. http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/74853-evga-geforce-gtx-970-ftw/?page=9

Problem is comparing them at stock clocks. When non-reference 980's and 970's are boosting to over 1300MHz when the Titan is only boosting in the 900MHz range. Compare them at max OC vs max OC and the performance differences between the two diminishes.

that is true. a stock titan 876mhz boost. with a decent titan and a skynet bios, they can do 1200+ which makes them a hell of a lot faster than stock. 1200mhz is 37% over stock

The 10XX series will be even faster. The 1070 will beat the 980 in performance with a lower price. So according to your logic, anyone buying 9XX series are all stupid?

My logic is based on the fact that paying less and getting more is a solid foundation and metric to use when selecting a GPU. 9xx series is a staggering offering from nvidia because they have set the bar for price/performance with this new series. Titan was a fail on many levels for gamers.

I don't think price/performance ratio is the only criterion to choose a GPU. Same like many other commercial products.

A family sedan with 100hp will cost$20,000 or less. A sport car with 400hp can cost a lot more than 4x $20,000. Are you saying buying a sport car is a waste of money? All the worthy guys with supercars and big yachts are dump asses?

Also you are comparing GPUs of different generations. A i7 4790k can easily beat the shit out of an i7 980x, while only costs 1/3 of it. Are those people who has bought the 980x all retarded?

It's nice you have a 970. Enjoy and have fun.

There is a way around it, overclock the 700 series to the same speeds and it matches the 900 series and in a lot of cases beats the 900 series; when comparing a 780 or Titan to a 970 and a 780 Ti or Titan Black to a 980.

Exactly, it's an apples to oranges comparison. Who compares a 900MHz clocked card to a 1300MHz clocked card and calls it "results." 1200MHz on a Titan isn't all that difficult.

People that bought a 980x when it came out will not have to upgrade for years to come so it really isnt that bad but i would not pay $1000 for a CPU up front when i can just spend 2 or 3 hundred more frequently.

It's nice you have a 970. Enjoy and have fun.

It's the best GPU on the market and best offering from nvidia ever from a price performance standpoint it's an amazing product no question.

I don't think price/performance ratio is the only criterion to choose a GPU. Same like many other commercial products.

I would say it is the most important metric in factoring which GPU to buy. I wouldent buy an 390x if it was $700 and only performed slightly better than a 970/80.

Clock for clock the 9xx series is just better and more efficient and a Titan cannot outperform a 9xx series card to even be considered a good value. The 9xx series is faster stock for stock and OC for OC apples to apples.

But it's not faster OC for OC, Apples to Apples. I proved you wrong before with actual benchmarks and you ignored them and went your typical ignorance tangent:

an almost 1200 Core 780 Ti nearly matches an almost 1500 core 980

So get to the point already, not really saying much. Look at the op and try posting again. If you feel like wasting more money and getting 900 series now then go for it. The few frames you will get will not be worth it. That and resale value if you do decide to sell the titan.

TI versions around the corner. Getting a 980 would seem like a waste to me.

I'm not going to bother reading all pages.

I'll give you my two cents and I'll let you do the judging.

If your only gaming and need more horsepower (snickerzzzpower) then an upgrade is not a bad idea. However if it's computing power your after and gaming then keep the Titan abit longer, the 970 has worse computing power then the Titan and the 700 lineup.

Even the 980 was struggling in certain cases. I'd give the benchmarks but I'm at work right now, sorry.

I would say that logic would dictate to off load the Titan as fast as possible while the market value remains somewhat potent. I don't see whats the big deal with the titan other than lower framerates, higher power consumption, heat and noise output.

Just wondering how it compares because i have a titan and they never use the titan when they benchmark.

And those new features seem dayumn good on the new cards.

But does anyone know how they compare?

the titan compare to the GTX 970...here some benchmarks including titan (page 12 and up for gaming benchies):

Titan is no contest for even a 970.

if you consider overclocing headroom you are correct but at stock they are about the same...10 minutes to overclock will bring the 970 on par with a 780ti stock.

Titan is a full grand and 970 is a few bills and change. Winner is 970 buy a mile.
