Some people are still to dumb to realize that the titan is already purchased. Pay attention to the op. He's not looking for a reason to get either or.

I would still wait, 970/980 still seem like a waste at the moment. I would never get the first line of card of a new series.

He can sell the bloody Titan and have almost enough money for 2x 970s. Problem is no gamers are stupid enough to buy a Titan. 9xx series are not a waste by any means as they represent the best efficiency and value for money and performance for the dollar that nvidia has ever brought to market.

Yea we already discussed all that. If he could sell it for around 700 to get two 970's, that would be great and all but, why rush when something better will be right around the corner. Get lucky and sell it now before the market is flooded with bs and grab a new card. His choice, just giving realistic options. Not everyone cares about efficiency and the performance as of yet isn't worth it for me. getting over 100 frames in every game already the "10" more the 980 will give me isn't a deal breaker for me.

It's never really worth it to upgrade from the prior generation of tech. Usually it best to leap frog generations. I don't see where all this hate towards the 9xx series is coming from though as it is the best release nvidia has ever offered from any standpoint.

Not hating, just keeping it realistic for most people. I was about to order 2 yesterday and run some tests before making a quad sli setup just for the hell of it. Just not comfortable getting the first two cards out. had to talk my self out of it, rather put the money somewhere worth while as of now.

Agreed. I think if you own a 700 series, Titan, or even AMD equivalent of those; no point in upgrading.

No one's hating.

For the OP, it's not worth it if you already have the Titan.

You're not running the same rig that these test benches are using, so the little difference those new cards will give you aren't worth it. Especially if you run multiple screens and those screens don't support dp, then you end up buying a bunch of adapters.

Upgrade when a game that comes out is worth it to you.

Your titan sits between the GTX 970 and GTX 980, closer to the 970 though.

Well i guess constant 300 fps in cs go is better than 280 fps right :((((( i need that card:((( but really... difference is to minor to even take upgrading into consideration

Yes...the 980 would be an upgrade in terms of overclocking potential and lower heat output/power consumption...performance would be within 10 to 15% from your titan...not worth it IMHO. You'd also loose 2gb of VRAM...

The upgrade from the GTX 680 (or 770) to the GTX 980 is where it really begins to be a worthy upgrade

People stop it please

The Titan was never supposed to be used for gaming (not saying you cant do it). It was meant to be a workstation card.

Cards like the 7** and 9** series cards are meant for gaming. How hard is it to understand this. Of course the Titan is gonna call behind in the gaming department because it wasn't meant for gaming in the first place.

again, I'm not saying the Titan is a bad card to game with but there are other gpu's that were specifically meant for gaming.

There you go ;)

Be careful with Firestrike scores. Different architectures. It's clear that Maxwell > GCN > Kepler in Firestrike optimization-wise.
