Yes, Broadwell CPUs  will be compatible with Z97

^ This. Z97 exists for mainly two reasons, M.2, and to support Broadwell when it comes without having to upgrade motherboards. @LAB DA BIG MAN you won't have to upgrade your motherboard. Welcome to Linus Tech Tips forums and enjoy the wait for Broadwell

Z97 will work with broadwell. You will probably need to do a BIOS update though. But that's free :)
