FX-8320

Go to solution Solved by GloriousPain,

Hey Ghosty mi amigo; 8320 is perfectly fine... Pretty darn good for the money, in rendering and editting and extreme levels of multitasking its killer having a "full 8 cores" in gaming its not much of an upgrade over an AMD 6 core since games rarely use more than 4 cores or OS&background applications use  1 or 2... Overall performance wise (in multicore/thread applications) it's comparable to i5s in gaming however; it can fall behind based on how well optimised a game is with games like Crysis3 and BattleField4 using multiple cores it'll preform similarly but as less cores are used (like World of Warcraft which uses 1) it'll fall behind

Also I believe ddk says togo 8350 probably for superior binning

So guys I'm looking at an upgrade and was wondering how a FX-8320 performs in games and editing? Looking forward to your replies

It does, but I would go for the FX-8350.

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

I'm pretty sure every CPU 'performs'. It just depends on how well it performs...

The 8320 performs decently well.

Awesome for the price. Of course if you can spend a bit more then get the 4690K. The 8320 is just as good in editing, it just falls behind a bit in games that use less then 6 cores (which atm is everything but battlefield but we'll see)

That and its comparable to Intel's in gaming. With some games like you said falling behind while others have better fps. It just depends on the game, but that that's with every single processor out there.

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

I'm sorry if I offended you it wasn't intentional

It was probably the way I read it. No hard feelings. I don't post stuff just cause.

Agreed and sorry on butting in a bit but lol this fits your Custom member title perfectly ddbtkd  which is a nice quote by the way however I try to stay slightly less emotional but I'm still slightly curious on the 8350 reccomendation was my guess at least slightly correct? or was it really a "just cause why not?" kinda thing as I seen you post earlier xD (forgot to multiquote it and currently on 2nd page so I can't see it to quote it right now)

It was kinda a just cause thing, but with reasoning. The FX-8350 has an extremely good rendering and multitasking skills, not that the FX-8320 would, but I really hate people that just assume people know how to overclock. I had my last build water cooled as far as it could go, but I never once overclocked my FX-8350 expect when it initialized right out of the box at 4.5 GHz. Anyways they seem to have slightly better FPS (not much) then the FX-8320 or at least I think so. However my real reason for suggesting it is if it is just an overclocked FX-8320 then for a bit more money you can overclock that much further (in theory). Also they are extremely stable chips. I had mine floored with Prime95 all cores maxed and it still wanted more. But in short yes you were correct in your statement and slightly correct about me. :D

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.
