Looking to buy an SSD. This will not be a main drive. There will be a 2TB Black for games and general files along with maybe 4 hotswap bays in the front of the case eventually. This is just a drive for OS, Major Programs and Major games.

The 850 has a whopping 10 year warranty. That says something in itself. MX100 is an excellent value though.

I'd go with the 840 evo instead of the 850 as its much cheaper, but its your decision.

 

The 840 evo is still an amazing choice for an SSD, its just a bit older than the 850.

Id say the Crucial, it is slower than the other 2 yes, but are you really gonna notice the difference?

and even if he has HDD's, he is still gonna want to put more on the SSD :)

Crucial is very comptetive for its price per GB value. It's a little slower than the EVO line but you could hardly tell the difference between them and is still miles away than a mechanical drive.

 

+1 to Crucial.

How about iops? Reliability?

 

SAMSUNG

 

I raid 0 2 840 EVO 250GB and get 1030MBps read and like 880 write. 

Also have a kingston hyperx, its a work horse but only 200/400MBps

Also have a 256GB ADATA i got free, good performance (like 400/500) but only had it a few weeks

 

Id get the Samsung but if u need more space get the crucial.
