Camtasia Studio 8 is pretty easy to use, its what I currently use for video editing.

Windows Live Movie Makers is the easiest to use. And it's free.

If you want to get more advanced, Sony Vegas and Adobe Premier Pro are the two best options.

To start learning enterprise grade software, get your self a trial of Vegas, then move onto Adobe Premiere. These are both payed applications but you can get trials of them, there is also a 'free' way of doing it but we don't speak of that here.

Get the free trial of Sony Vegas, it's much more intuitive than Premiere and is much easier to use. Also you don't need a plugin to use lossless codecs like FLAC.

I heard lightworks has a very steep learning curve to it.

Magix videu deluxe is very easy to use and provides fairly advanced functionality, it's not free though (still it's pretty cheap compared to others).

Adobe premiere i  was a complete beginner too but they have a lot of video in the website and i watched all of them and i could literally do everything now  

but there was a huge learning curve

Damn, was it that confusing? Kind of like how looked at FL Studio once and gave up after 5 minute and uninstalled.

LOL yes exactly that confusing. If I spent a couple hours looking at youtube tutorials I would probably be able to use it, but it's just way too much effort. If I'm going to spend that much time watching tutorials, I will just watch After effects and Vegas tutorials.
