When someone doesn't understand how good certain hardware is.

Tobinator

A lot of ps4 games run at 1080p @60fps. Only the XBone runs at like 144p

There are some, yes. Both XBox One also has games at 1080p 60fps. You're really nitpicking this one.

Everyone knows the PS4 is more powerful, but it's not THAT MUCH MORE POWERFUL.

IGN isn't the best, but here's one list. As you can see, both consoles have some titles at 1080p 60fps.

Truth is hardware specs is not the only thing that makes a system more powerful then the other. It's also the software support and implementaion.

So what if you have three GTX 780 Ti in SLI, when I have the same framerates as you only on one GTX 780 Ti.

So what if you have three GTX Titans for CUDA processing, when I can have better OpenCL performance then you with a medium-range Radeon Card.

So what if you have an 8+ core CPU you paid thousands of hard earned money, when I get the same performance as you with only a quad core CPU.

So what if you have 64 GB of RAM with extreme latencies, when I have the same framerates as you in gaming with only 8/16 GB of RAM.

Normal people don't look only at what's inside. They expect to see the real benefit of paying so much more $$ to what they already own.

I do gaming and 3D media creation aswell as video editing and photo editing. I'm also guilty of the fear of not closing things invade I need to use it again and have too much stuff open at the same time.

Also I use it as a game server quite often.

with that creation, aren't you worried about 16gb being to little?

Nothing to see here, move along

It's just that people have other things to do and sometimes can't keep up with the new hardware. So they don't really know much about how a 760 or a 780ti perform and ask you because you're more up to date. That's what happened with my dad, he is an i.t. engineer and yet he asks me when he needs new hardware because he simply doesn't have the time to look into it anymore. He also tells me that 2 gpus are a waste of money, not because he doesn't think they perform well, but because he doesn't believe gaming is worth such a big investment (and he's probably right too, but hey, I want 4k ultra, can you blame me? :P) so when they tell you 16gb of ram are too much they probably mean you have no use for them that justifies paying their price in their opinion.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I guess the difference is between when they admit that they're out of the loop in current gen hardware, vs when they blatantly have no idea what they're talking about and mistakenly say something is bad/good when it is not.

The first is totally okay. The second is being a know-it-all dick.

Most of my friends don't even know what a graphics card is :(

a couple of months ago my younger cousin thought the pc was the screen.

Either way, he is adamant that you can't build a pc that outdoes a ps4 for 400 bucks, and he's wrong. And that's only some games.

truth of the matter is, people are dumb and believe whatever they are told untill they are told something from someone that has sound logic explaining why its true and how to tell.

my friends (twins, we run the audio and visual equipiment at my church) have a dad who, by default, buys the most expensive product on apple.com and says it'll out preform my computer anyday.

im running a hp envy m6. (piece of sh*t but its fine for now) and i get more framesper second in 6 month old games.

however, caleb, (the cute one. tmi i know but too bad) understands that mac's are better for media and ease than anything else.

so i decided to test and see what he thaught of a titan black.

he thaught it was a thumbdrive. laterhowever, he understood the general idea of what a graphics card is, and some other stuff.

you just need to TEACH them. not tell them what is true and isnt true, because some dipstick on youtube, with no proof of his work will come along and tell them ''oh, its better now'' and everything you told them gets paved over by idiocy and tar...

remember, teach, not tell.

WOW i feel like i sound like a really wierd mom. xD probably because i went overboard on my story and gave advice. xD

Watch out for each other. Love everyone and forgive everyone, including yourself. Forgive your anger, forgive your guilt. Your shame. Your sadness. Embrace and open up your love, your joy, your truth, and most especially your heart.

I don't really have the money to get a 32gb kit and don't want to throw 16gb away. (Ignore the expensive card and CPU, they were very expensive gifts)

What about buying another set of ram that is the same as the one you already have (or is the 16gb 4x4gb?)?

Nothing to see here, move along

I envy you xD it was very hard convincing my parents that it made any sense to get an r9 290 (with my money :S) and later crossfire, but at the end of the day I'm "of age" so fortunately they had to give up ^^

You dont need 16gb as an everyday consumer or gamer, right now, at least.

Until more games get their launchers and side processes.

Rendering bish. ):<

Yes, but the kind of people who use 16GB and the kind of people who use 16GB for rendering are very different amounts of people.
