I like Razer, got a Arctosa running for about a year without any troubles, never had it cleaned except turning it upside down and kind of smashing it with my hand.. I both smoke, eat and drink in front of my computer, so I can't really say they ''break easily''.

And Razer gear looks cool.

For me the hate comes from:

1. The driver for the mouse using the port it was first plugged in as the only port it will use for it and to date no number of uninstall/re-installs has allowed me to use a different port... had I known this the first time I plugged it in I'd of chosen a better port for it :(

2. The driver updater never ever works and no amount of tech support from Razer has helped resolve this and I am not going to re-install the whole OS for one freaking driver. So I sit on the original driver with bugs because I can't upgrade to the newest supposed best driver version.

Other than that it actually works well, but if there's a system crash then the mouse might go into who knows what state and require N reboots to fix (again)

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

Looks like this a strictly personal thing whether you like razer or not

No. Clearly you want to like Razer and that's fine, go ahead, but...No.

Is their bullshit marketing responsible for a lot of their sales? Yes.

Do they flat-out lie in said marketing? Sometimes.

Is their childish aesthetic responsible for a lot of their sales? Yes.

Have a disproportionately large amount of their products had defects? Yes. The original Blackwidow is a prime example. There were some that were fine, but buying one was far more of a lottery than buying damn-near anything else, in regards to encountering something that would be a result of poor build quality.

As far as pro-gamers or Youtubers you see using them, there's every chance they either received them for free (Roosterteeth and their Razer headsets/laptops, for example), or are being actively paid by Razer to be seen to use their products.

Which isn't to say all their products are bad. Their current keyboards are quite acceptable and they make one of, if not the best mouse on the market in the form of the Deathadder. It's just that their prioritization of selling products based on branding and marketing over whatever strengths the actual product possesses is immensely dislikeable to those who are capable of seeing through it.

Well why so many people uses them? because they cares about gimmicks. Fwong and gamer youtubers were sponsored by Razer therefore they couldn't complain about it. When Youtubers uses it , people who watch their videos will thought that Razer is a cool product cuz Youtubers uses it.

I've had 3 Razer products to date: Lycosa, Carcharias and Deathadder. The Carcharias died in less than a year (one ear-cup), the second ear-cup blew out in under 2 years. The Deathadder developed the dreaded double click issue within 6 months. The Lycosa is ok for the most part with the exception of random keys no longer registering; unplugging and plugging in the USB fixes it. Happens frequently, and started within maybe the first 4-5 months of owning it.

The problems are consistent with what most people are experiencing, so I replaced the Carcharias with Sibera V2's and plan on replacing the Lycosa/Deathadder with either the Corsair K95/M95 or the Steelseries Apex/Sensei MLG. I like matching sets ... >.>

The only reason I use Razer is I only have a working left arm and no one else makes a good Left handed gaming mouse.. I really love my left handed death adder..

A couple of manufacturers make ambidextrous mice. Steelseries Sensei comes to mind. Afaik, Steelseries has better reliability than Razer.

I don't hate razer's products but they can definitely work on their build quality. Went from a Deathadder to a Corsair M60 and there was a major difference in built quality.

Few things...They spend more money on packaging rather than putting that money in to things such as quality control. They also have some of the worst customer support that i have ever had the pleasure to have to deal with, to the point that i just hung up and could not be bothered. I have had many problems with there gear.

Saying all that i love my naga cant use any other mouse now and have a new one on the way (which i won from athene).

My favorite thing that I have from Razer is their Mako speakers MADE by THX. I consider myself to be an audiophile on a budget... and those speakers ROCK! build quality is excellent, sound quality is on par with studio monitors and their design is freakin' awesome! of course that's my opinion, but it's definitely unique. I've had their death adder for over 3 years and it's still kickin' butt no problems, although I do want to upgrade it to something metal feeling... and I also have a Lycosa which I also have had for over 3 years. I like low profile keyboards with the membrane feeling. It's what I like. Anyways, I don't buy things based on brand, and I definitely don't buy things based on other people's opinions. I do however look at reviews and see the overall trends of the reviews and do research based on that. anywho, this is starting to be a longer rant than I thought it was going to be...

I personally have not had any issues with my Razer products in the past. Upgraded my Deathadder 3.5G to the Deathadder 2013 recently, and I was incredibly satisfied  I use all of my mice on a Razer Destructor 2 mousepad, and while a bit pricey, it's still a great pad. I got the Blackwidow Ultimate 2013 that I ordered int eh mail today, incredibly satisfied with that product as well so far.

I just can't state how much i love the Makos. It's the only hardware that THX actually had a hand in making and it really shows.

  • 4 months later...

I owned the Razer Lycosa Mirror, Imperator and Carcharias and after 1 - 2 years, it started dying out already, especially the mouse.

The Imperator suddenly had sensor problems and click problems.. It's weird because I paid a premium price for a premium product and all I got was problems with it after 1 1/2 years.

The Lycosa Mirror's media touch panel doesn't light up anymore and suddenly plays/stops/change music/volume up and down suddenly. The keys are now also harder to press.

The Carcharias's volume controls are broken, I have to adjust it so that I can hear the sounds playing on both sides. And It also suddenly crackles even though I'm not on max volume.

I have now changed my mouse to a Corsair M65 and planning to change my keyboard to a K70 Brown switch. Hopefully, I can get the best experience with Corsair than with Razer

As for my headset, I'm planning to buy a Sennheiser HD 439 and a modmic ASAP.

I commend Razer for its packaging but the build quality is just not great.. and i think people just buy it for bragging rights now. "Oh look here! I got Razer stuffs".

the reason why so many youtubers use there products is because they get revenue from it and there products usualy work and get them for free... razer knows the best way to advertise

true..

In my neck of the woods, a BWU 2013 costs more than a Ducky Shine 3, making it very bad in terms of price relative to a premium keyboard like a DS3. I have never said Razer made bad products, especially the keyboards, it's just mediocre and they charge a premium price for them, but one thing I'd give them props for, they know how to advertise their product thru sponsorship, media and freebies and whatnot. Oh yeah, I'd gotten my brand new Topre Type Heaven at just $10 more than what a brand new BWU 2013 cost, seriously, when a first timer's buying a board and simply looking at these two, they would obviously choose the bling bling Razer. They would not know that Topre is a premium brand and that the Type Heaven would be so much more satisfying to type and game with. Heck, I'm typing this post with the Type Heaven and it feels better, to me, than most MX switch types....including Blues. Though typing on a Clear is just as satisfying.

On my part, I detest Razer, their mice and other peripheral may be acceptable (still overpriced imo) but their keyboards are simply not worth the asking price. While I may detest their keyboards, I have an open mind when it comes to their other peripherals, I do have a Razer HP-1 and a Blackshark though I must say the Blackshark's all about bass and nothing else. It looks great, props to Razer for the retro styling, but it's simply for gaming and movies, don't even bother listening to MP3's or music with it, it's bad. As I've said before, Razer's over hyped and overpriced.....I believe a vast majority of those who have Razer mechanical keyboards have had no other experience with other makes like Filco and Ducky. So the Razer being their first and only mechanical keyboard is awesome....to them anyway. To me, this speaks volumes, not to sound elitist or smug, they simply don't know any better.....that's my impression anyway. I've yet to see someone who had owned a DS2 swap it for a BWU, but jumping from a BWU to a Ducky or Filco? Not entirely unheard of or unbelievable is all I can say.

See I would have gone for a ducky, but it was a local buy. Bestbuy doesnt sell ducky. Also I really like the style of razer over a lot of other companies. I went all razer on my peripherals because i was going with a black and green build and these match perfect. Also where mice go there new ones are much better then their old ones although i have seen some youtubers and other builds where they are using pretty old razer gear and it seems fine. But one thing that razer did that no one else has... The orbweaver. A lot of people say you can buy a full keyboard for the price of it except i use it more then my keyboard. When i game i dont touch my keyboard because the orbweaver is just better for me. Im so used to it and love it. I tried to play Blacklist on my keyboard and i just couldnt the button spacing was just weird in comparison.
