finnish, english, poor swedish, some german and spanish. Then basic words from russian, japanese, chinese, french, norwegian, estonian, italy... I used to know some arabic but have forgotten all.

I can only speak English and Mandarin and technically I can speak Singlish although that isn't a real official language but I am able to understand

 

Cantonese 

Hokkien

Italian

Malay

Fluent: English
Proficient: French, Tamil
Newbie: Sinhalese
Odd tidbits: Japanese, European languages (due to similarities with French/Latin root words, sans German), Arabic.
 
Languages I want to learn and become proficient in: Arabic, Japanese and Hindi. Odd choices, I know.
Languages I want to be fluent in: French. Working in the public sector (Canada), so being bilingual is a huge asset.
Proficient = I understand what people say, and I can carry conversations in the language to a certain degree. Obviously unable to say any eloquently poetic sentences.
Newbie = I understand fewer words, and can use fewer words myself. Also, awkward as hell speaking Sinhalese with a somewhat North American accent.

Does dialects count as speaking languages? Haha. Too many types of dialects in Chinese.

 

Very fluent: English, Malay (Malaysia Whoots!!), Mandarin, Cantonese

Understandable: Hokkien, Hakka, Japanese? Maybe..

Only little bits. Most of I've forgotten since not going to NZ as much. I used to go about once a year but haven't been much over the last 5 years.
