GTX 750Ti?

Hey people of LTT Forums!

 

 

If you have seen me post before, you may know that I'm building a Gaming Computer in September, which is getting closer and closer every day. I am still making decisions on which parts to get. Recently, I asked which is better, a 750Ti, or an R9 270. You guys said the R9 was. Just a few hours ago, I watched a video that was published in Febuary, saying that AMD cards have gone down in price, since the cryptocurrency mining craze. This is kind of hard to explain, so here's the video link. Basically, what I got from that, is that although AMD Cards are cheaper, nVidia is better for Gaming, and, this seems wierd to say, AMD's second priority is gaming(This is an opinion of mine, so don't get all mad and stuff if you're an AMD Fanboy/girl). So, would you guys recommend an nVidia card? And if so, a GTX 750 Ti, specifically the EVGA model(I think it looks cool)? My system will include either an Intel Pentium G3258 Overclocked, or an AMD Athlon X4 760k overclocked, and 8gb 1600 mHz ram. Will I be able to run most games, high-ultra settings on 900p at playable frames(over 30?)? And by most games, I mean Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, BF4, Team Fortress 2, etc.

DO you have reasons for liking them? IF so then you have an objective opinion not fanboyism. Yeah the 750 ti would be a good choice. Personally i would go 270

The only "Good" coolers for AMD cards don't fit the style that I like (I have been told multiple times that the XFX coolers are crappy, loud, etc..), while for Nvidia the cards from EVGA have great coolers and look good.

Saying that one company is "better for gaming" means nothing. Any strong GPU will be better than any weaker one, and the R9-270 is the stronger GPU..

 

What are your other rig specs? Generally speaking, an i3 at stock speeds will be overall a better option than the G3258, especially considering that many newer games can really take advantage of 4 threads..

I love Nvidia GeForce experience. I think Radeon has a comparable software but i heard its not as good. As for the 750ti, its a very solid card at a very solid price.

They do have some good coolers but the reference one suck. Still if he can find one he like i would r9 270 if he can find one he likes.

if you can afford more, the 270, 270x, or 280 will all perform better at the cost of more noise, heat, and power consumption.

after market coolers fix that for the 280 but the 270(x) never really was a louder hotter card.

And atm the amd cards have more of a price to performance ratio

The GeForce Drivers/Software are leagues better than AMD though they have made improvements

lolwat!? The mining craze has been gone for a while and that's irrelevant, if any company has gaming as a priority, it's AMD but whatever, also irrelevant. The only thing you should know is that the R9 270 is a step above the GTX 750 Ti, they are not in the same league, R9 270 will give you much better framerates but it looks like you want an nvidia card. Get what you like, you don't need to be making up excuses.

R7 265 is better than a 750ti and about $10-$15 more depending on location/store but I'd go for the R9 270/X if you can.

thats not true at all, the aftermarket cooling solutions that msi and sapphire offer bring amd on par with nividia, my 270x stays at 20 at idle and 50-60 at load. (power consumption, really like a dollar to your bill)

So i checked prices now and the 270 is 20$ more but it will run about a settings tier above the 750ti

The 750ti will run mist games at medium settings at 40-60fps where as the 270 will be at high 60 fps +

True, and hopefully it will soon become as good or better. Even still, no matter what people say about how much better intel and nvidia are compared to AMD/Radeon, i still hold a special place in my heart for Team Red. lol

Sapphire and HIS are really good cards from AMD.

 

And yes XFX coolers suck. I have an XFX 7790 in the PC beside me and it literally sounds like a diesel pickup truck. It wears off after a day or so but if you touch it then the horribleness returns.

Long story short, R9 270 will be better. Even for gaming. Unless you need nVidia specific features like game streaming to a SHIELD device or Gsync. 

 

750 Ti ~= R7 260X. At best an R7 265
