Low budget gaming build

Hello all! I would like some feedback on the low budget gaming build that I am planning on getting within the next few months.

Please do NOT suggest a completely different build, just suggesting I change out one part for another is fine.

 

I already have storage drives, peripherals, and a monitor so none of those are needed.

 

My budget it $700, and I want to stay with the i5 4690K and GTX 750 ti.

 

 

 

I will be upgrading the GPU some time next year, so stop whining about it being a 750 ti.

Because the CPU is great for gaming, and the GPU is around what I need power wise.

 

I intend on upgrading the GPU some time next year.

I would get a G238 (the pentium thing) and a 760. But if you want to stay with the 4960k, different ram wouldn't be a bad idea. The only thing I've ever heard about that ram is bad, but that was only one person so I may be wrong.

Please, hear me out on this: You would be better off to get a Pentium G3258, some kind of decent cooler like a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, and a better graphics card. OC the balls off the Pentium and try to get an i5 later.

With this in my head now, I guess it looks good.

get the 300r instead, change the psu to a evga 500b and get a hyper 212 evo and it should be good. The build would be better if you would have a g3258 but you don't want to and stick with a i5

You are much better going with the Sapphire Radeon R9 270, especially if it gets cheaper than it's current price. As you can see from the GPU Boss Comparison between the 750 Ti and the R9 270, the 270 comes out of top. And best of all, the 270 isn't much more expensive. 

 

Unless of course you really can't go any higher with a tight budget, but it would certainly be worth the extra $30 or so.

 

EDIT: And yes I realize you said you want to stick with the 750 Ti, but honestly, at this price range, the R9 270 is really a better choice.

yes but why not have a better build for the rest of the time, what gpu do you intend to updrade to anyway, you would be better off getting a 260x to hold off with, cheaper and does basicly the same

Once I have the money a 770 or 780. (Maybe one of the 800 cards if they are under $400 or so)

Soo many issues but just gonna ignore most of them as I actually read the whole thing... Maybe a Smaller/Slightly cheaper PSU Like the Corsair Builder 500w save ya 20-30 bucks; Don't get Avexir they're overpriced and not the most reliable or customer friendly; Maybe get a Hsomething board to save 50 bucks and get a Xeon 1230 which is haswell quadcore with hyperthreading;

well a xeon will beat the shit out of a i5 in rendering and wont be far behind in gaming

So you don't want hyperthreading for the without costing extra? and you can still OC xeons infact linus just did a guide on this... It'd only save you money and get you more performance in alot of cases between the Hboard saving money and the Xeon costing more than the i5 by about the price difference of the Z and Hboards  you'd save the money spend on the cooler and instead get essentially an i5; Also what about the PSU suggestion or le RAM suggestion

Not sure what you mean, I don't have the money get get a 770 or 780 with my build.

Also the prices will drop by quite a bit once the 800 series is released, though I can't wait that long to get my build.

I think you can buy a 280 now. Why a 750Ti?

Because I prefer my computer to be quieter, output as little heat as possible, and use the least power it can.

 

It would basically be the choice between an EVGA 750ti or an XFX 280 or 270x as those coolers are very clean looking compared to those of most other coolers.
