Windows Store is apparently littered with scam apps

Looks like Microsoft's hard push for quantitative build up of its app store is causing some pollution.

I don't have access to the store, so can anyone confirm the situation?

The Windows Store is a Cesspool of Scams — Why Doesn’t Microsoft Care?

Microsoft’s Windows Store is a mess. It’s full of apps that exist only to scam people and take their money. Why doesn’t Microsoft care that their flagship app store is such a cesspool?
It’s now been more than two years since Windows 8 was released, and this has been a problem the entire time, and it is getting worse. If Microsoft was trying to offer a safe app store to Windows users, they’ve failed.

The Store is Full of Scams, And They’re Easy to Find

I think thats accurate, because some of the 3rd party apps for things like twitch look really suspicious...

It depends. Yes the apps are there but you're unlikely to see them unless you specifically search for them.

When you open the Windows Store, everything and anything that is directly visible are all legit apps. Everything in Featured, Top free, Top grossing, Top paid, and Best rated are all good apps.

Then they have "collections" which are specific categorizations like "Getting Started" and "The Reading Room" which are hand-picked by Microsoft and are all good and legitimate apps.

Yes they should be removing these bogus apps and they may be turning a blind to them, which they should not be doing. At the same time, the bogus apps are blatantly obvious and all you have to do is check the publisher of the app. If it's not the official creator/company then you know its a bogus app.

my solution, never use the windows store ever. shitty apps are shitty. i never leave my quiet little desktop enviornment.

How do Reavers clean their spears?

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.

The fact that you think all apps in the Windows Store are "shitty" makes it quite clear you really have never left your desktop environment.
