Please don't get the Razer Blackwidow it's build quality isn't good and kailh switches aka Razer Green switches are garbage compard to Cherry switches. The cherry mx equivalent is Cherry MX Blues and they are pretty loud so if you're a noise freak look at a keyboard with MX browns instead. Some I recommend are the CM Storm Rapid an CM Storm Quickfire TK. Great keyboards for the $ IMO

If you want a silent mechanical keyboard that is tactile, get mx browns. I strongly recommend against the blackwidow after mine broke after 4 months. Also, get real mx switches. They are the best. I recommend the Rapid-I for a nice mechanical keyboard.

Don't get the Razer switches... Get Cherry MX Brown or Blue. Brown = quiet+tactile and Blue = loud+tactile.

Um...

I am looking for a keyboard and the Razer Blackwidow Tournament is at a great price. However, I want to know the loudness of the switch before buying one. It would be good if you can provide the dB or decibel of the switch.

The db level is around 75-80 dbs (Yup, loud)

How about red switches? How do they sound?

They are surprisingly louder than browns coming back up because they don't have that bump slowing the spring down. None the less, if you are a very light typist like me than not having a bump is worth the slightly louder sound. I hate browns because of the bump, but a lot of people really like it. You just have to experiment a bit.

Here is my long winded description of the 3 most common switches

Ok typing is a very subjective experience. It depends on how heavy or light you type and also how fast you are intending to type.

Cherry Blues: These have some give to them. the actuation/click feels like it has it's own spring in it and actually feels like it actuates at a slightly different height every time (pretty dang sure it doesn't but it just feels that way to me). The huge benefit of these is that the release is actually VERY nice feeling and has a click. It kind of feels like the snap of a really light gauge rubber band rubber band (With a similar sound and volume). If you are a heavy handed typist then you probably won't feel too much of the aforementioned things but I don't know your typing. The reset time is actually fairly slow compared to the Browns and the Reds (reason why they aren't considered gaming switches).

Cherry Browns: These are fairly similar to browns in the way that they have an actuation bump, but have a totally different feel (besides the click). They are a single piece rather than the blues 2 piece mechanism which makes them feel more solid, but the bump is less noticeable but more solid feeling. If you are a light touch typist like me this bump feels very similar the folding of the membrane magnets in a membrane KB, if you are a heavy typist it does't (from what my friends tell me). These actually are a little quieter than the Reds (from base to top position) because the bump actually slows the momentum down when released with a snap.

Cherry Reds: I personally use these because i can't stand the sound of the Blues (absurdly loud for me) and don't like the solid feel of the brown's bump. These are fairly flat feeling switches that have what feels like a more pronounced spring resistance as you get closer to the bottom. If you learn how they feel then you will almost effortlessly be able to tell where the actuation point is and never bottom out unless you want to. This is the same with Blacks.

HOPE THIS HELPED!!!

If you want to dampen the sound, I would recommend O-Rings. They help out a ton. And don't get a Razer board.

The cheapest boards I can recommend are the CM Storm boards. They have everything in their lineup at good prices for a mech board WITH Cherry MX switches.

If you are willing to stretch your budget, get a board with Topre Switches. They feel really nice, are quiet, and don't have much of the grittyness that you get with a tactile switch an a normal mech board.

Depends on your typing. I have a mx red thing right now, and mine is loud becasue i bottom out. if i type lighter it is very quiet.

I forgot to mention, Razer greens will probably be the absolute worst switch in terms of noise. Not only are they clicky, but due to the raised actuation point and light weight, you are almost forced to bottom out. Resulting in the loud Clack. They have a very membrainy feel, and if you intend to do any typing on this board, Razer switches offer a terrible typing experience.

Thank god I chose to get my BWU's in 2013, or else I would've been stuck with dem Razer Greens.  Anyway, Blues/Razer Greens are very loud, mic's easily pick them up as your voice and people in the same room as you can definitely get annoyed.  So yeah, don't get the Blackwidow Tournaments, something like the Quickfire Rapid would be a better alternative.
