Ambient lighting?

I am kinda thinking about some cheaper ambient lighting for behind my monitor. For me I would like for it to run off wall power and be dimmable, but if I can find away to snake it over to my computer then that would be fine too (long control cable, I guess). I would like for the light to be white. So, do what you guys do best and turn into my favorite little minions and start searching, please. I'm off to Youtube to look at HUE unboxings, since I really want one of those as well.

I basically have THIS and THIS so that I could make the corner. I have it light up behind my monitor and it looks really good. The only thing that I would keep in mind is that the power supply that comes with them may be pretty cheap so I would recommend getting another one if that is the case.

 

EDIT: Changed the link for the corner connector to the one I actually have. Got the wrong one by an accident.

I would say one of LED lighting kits from Amazon or Ebay will work well in this situation, and since you don't need to have it be multi-color just get a simple dimmer switch. I'd probably recommend non-RGB LED's since it's not actual white light but a color combination of them.

Just FYI do not use the Hue to make white light. It is as bad as RGB combined will look.

Other than that its awesome and I'm using it modified with bitfenix alchemy strips :D

A good strategy I use is asking my friends for spare change and quarters. Then I collect money over time and eventually get rich from all their quarters. I got like $40 total this school year from that, enough for another Hue :lol:
