Get an ssd if you want your PC to be generally snappier

Follow the topics you create using the "Follow" button in the top right corner!

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

HDD to SSD in my first gen i3 laptop = boots faster then a brand new $1200 laptop with an i7 and a 1tb mechanical drive. Mind blowing to my non-techy friends :P

Nah full sized 7200rpm hdds are not bad.. laptop ones are just painfully slow..

Personally I got a 512gb ssd in my desktop and laptop.

Everyone sings about their SSD probably because they had a shitty HDD in the first place. Mine isn't that much better other than booting up which I rarely do anyways.

I know it's been said several times, but I have to say the difference between my old HDD and my current hybrid drive is incredible. Aside from booting more quickly it makes my frequently used programs (like browsers) much more responsive, I'm very happy with it.

If you don't have enough RAM then getting more can save any old-ish PC, and the CPU can help with this as well.

Look up AAM. I can hear my WD Blue starting up very clearly.

SSD is the most important along with a decent CPU. As long as you have more than 4gb of RAM

INTEL I7 4790K @4.6Ghz |  ASUS Z97-A  |  CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 1866Mhz 16gb | NVIDIA GTX 780 | NZXT H440 White | CORSAIR RM750 | SAMSUNG 840 EVO | WD Caviar Black 1TB | LIQUID COOLED |

Either a ssd or cpu, going from a pentium 4 to a pentium D was big, from pentium d to pentium e6300 (same arch. as core 2 duo) was big again(i think the biggest noticeable performance boost on the cpu side), going from penium e6300 to core i5 was sorta big overall but mostly in bigger loading bigger programs and games,

Leaning more towards a SSD though because everything loads faster and I doubt most people still have pentium 4 or pentium D's
