Heyy guys,

which processor would be better for gaming -without over clocking- , if I have an r9 270X,  8 GB RAM ?Please consider the same price range..

core i5 vs AMD 8 core?

core i3 vs AMD 6 core?

* I am planning to upgrade my PC

Well the i5 is better then the 8320, but the 8320 is quite cheaper... so it's not exactly in the same price range.

Core I5 trumps all 3, especially if you OC, unless you're planning to push the 8 core really far in an OC, the I5 will give you better performance per core. The extra cores on the 8 cores really don't help much in the long run, at least not at the moment in most games.

If you can afford it, get the i5, or else the 8320 will do similar performance (lower of course), but the price will compensate.

Let's say I'm getting either GTX 760 with i5 or GTX 770 with 8320, I would probably pick the second one.

Gaming takes advantage of a graphics card more than your CPU, so unless you're getting one of them really unbalanced, you won't have a bottleneck.

If you are not going to bother ocing then Xeon. Or a locked i5. But if you're thinking of the price of the 8320, more like an i3 not i5.

This one's a bit vague but assuming your talking ivy level and up in i3 and i5s, they're pretty much equal from a gaming perspective with maybe bragging rights type of advantages with the i5 but nothing plain as better. The i3 and fx 6 core is more of a leap frog kind of equal, i3 better in some, fx 6 core better in others, both generally perform within bragging rights so really its down to cost, features and upgradibility

System: Intel Core i3 3240 @ 3.4GHz, EVGA GTX 960 SSC 2GB ACX 2.0, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 Kingston HyperX RAM, ASRock B75M-DGS R2.0 Motherboard, Corsair CX430 W Power Supply
