I have 2 questions I am bulding a gaming rig and want to knwo what CPU I should go with? the 2 i'm looking at is the I5-4670k and the I5-4690k both same price and idk what one is better I have around a $240-$250 budget on the CPU. I also want to know what motherboard I should roll with the 2 I'm looking at here is the MSI Z97-G45 Gaming LGA 1150 or the ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 intel Z97(The ASUS 797-P LGA 1150 Intel Z97 is also a condendor for cheaper) I am running a R9-280x and at a later date prob going to add a 2nd one to the mix and wanting to know what CPU/MOBO would work best for Gaming/Overclocking.

Thank you for help.

Since you are picking the Z97 board

it will be a no brainer to pick the 4690K

both mobo are good board but compare the spec of the 2 board and pick which match your budget and features

I so like the MSI board but that IMO

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Hands down 4690K. It's simply the newer, "improved" model.

Personally I'd go with the Z97-A

4690k and the msi motherboard would be my pick, better fan management and awesome gaming features, better lan chip and better audio.
