Need help getting out of the jungle of fans

xdskiller

I shouldn't say they are trash, they are just loud compared to other fans ie: SP120 quiet editions

Er... corsair is alot louder than noctua.......

I recomend the AP123, quieter than Nf-f12

Ok thanks to everyone who took the time to reply to this thread, I have decided on the scythe gentle typhoons and I just got confused again. Going through amazon and other online retailers there seem to be different rpm variants of the fans. So I would like to know if it is possible to run them higher than their rated speed without doing anything a bit over the top. I'm considering settling with the 1150 rpm version, but I'm sure if it's going to be enough? Can anybody give me some info on this please?

YOu cant run them higher, but always lower.

That seems like a decent RPM tho.

My personal favorite fan is the AP123 tho, but gentle typhoons are still great

I'm worried if one day the 1150 rpm won't cut it, I see some of the 4250rpm versions available should I just go with those?

Maybe performance edition, but not quiet edition

Ask @Lays who has had both

After using gentle typhoons, NF-F12 and SP120 quiet editions, I can say that sp120 QE's are much quieter at 12 volts than the NF-F12, and similar at 5v, slightly quieter at 7v as well.

What about the gentle typhoons? Could you provide some input into them as well please?

Hands down the best fans I've ever used.  They're extremeeely good.  But hard to come by unless you buy used / ebay / off frozencpu for the 1150 RPM models. (Works fine if watercooling)

Sp120 QE in terms of noise are inbetween NF-F12 and Gentle typhoons imo.

Wait so you use the 1150 models am I correct, if so are they adequate for your needs or would it be better to go for the 1450/turbo jet engine variants?

I had the 1450 RPM ones.   It's actually quite pleasant in terms of volume at full speed.

I sold all my GT's so I could buy SP120 quiet editions because they're cheaper and I can paint the rings yellow to match my new build.

What were you using them for in particular? And did you find yourself having to put them at full speed often?

I was running 8 of them on 2 480mm radiators that were 60mm thick at 600-800 RPM depending on the load I put on my stuff.

I only turned them up to 100% when I did benchmarks, to keep things as cold as possible.
