How much money is it worth?

Go to solution Solved by Askew,

Offer him $100 for both shipped.

Hi

Sooo, I found a Sabertooth X58 in a used parts internet store (in Lithuania), and it is in a kit, but I asked the seller "Would you sell the Sabertooth X58 alone?", he replied "What's your offer?", and I have to reply to him. Question: how much should I offer him? I don't want to spend much money, as I don't have a lot. Another question: is it worth it? I saw on the same store, that i7-920 is 40$... seems like a killer deal to me, since it's overclokable and good for what I'm going to do with it. So, the questions: is it worth it and how much should I offer him?

Thanks in advance,
Jonas ;)

Offer him $100 for both shipped.

For both, that is for the i7 and the Sabertooth? They are from different sellers, but on the same website, so, offer 60 bucks for the Sabertooth, right?

Maybe offer him $50 for the board, if it's not enough for him he will reply with a a counter offer.

I contacted him, he wants 215$ for it... :/

but I found a kit: i7-920 + Asus P6T Deluxe for 180$. I will try to negotiate for a lower price. HAS A 2 WEEK MANUFACTURER WARRANTY THO :D but doesn't come with any acessories...

lol $215 for an ancient 1366 motherboard you can get a good Z97 board for that.

Old x58 motherboard in good condition worth 100-150$. However you can get a xeon x5650 for 75$. So for around 200$ you can get a killer setup. Xeon x5650 overclocked at 4.0 ghz still kick ass.

There are three options he is selling: P6T + i7-920 @ 180$; P6T + E5620 @ 180$; P6T + i7-950 @ ~184$. What are your suggestions? Which one of these should I buy? At first, I'm going to buy a Hyper212 Evo to cool the CPU, but I'm looking towards Noctua NH-C14, or a watercooler later (because I don't have the money for a great cooler now, lol). Going to be overclocking it, as long as the CPU temps will be OK and as long as the motherboard will handle it. Read that i7-920 overclocks are fascinating; read that i7-950 is faster at stock, but not as stable as i7-920 when OCing; read that E5620 is slower, eats less power and has a lower TDP, and overclocks worse than an i7-920. So, i7-920 would be my pick

My bad - thought it was a P6T Deluxe... a guy in the comments of the page where the kits are selled wrote "would you sell the Asus X58 P6T Deluxe motherboard alone?", so I thought that the board is Deluxe, but in the kits description it says that the name of the motherboard is "Asus P6T". Wrote an e-mail for the seller to ask which version it is that he sells, waiting for the answer

P6T + 920 for 180$ I will go if you can't wait to find a xeon x5650. They are 6 core + hyperthreading and can be overclock to 4 ghz with after market cooler. This will outperfom by much i7-920.

Overclocked score

I7-920 3ghz = around 5500 (30-40$ used)

I7-920 4ghz = around 7000 (...)

x5650 3ghz = around 8500 (70-100$ used)

x5650 4ghz = around 10500 (...)

i7-4790k 4.5ghz = around 12000

I asked him, the i7-920 that he is selling is "overlapped" and was OCed, so I'm not going that route because I don't want to have any problems. He sells an i7-950 though, 4$ more expensive. And he could pair it with a RAMPAGE II EXTREME. Should I go with the Rampage?

The i7-950 is almost the same chip as the i7-920 and the rampage 2 is a realy good board.

i7-950 at 4ghz= around 7000
