The pilot's probably used their chair's but if they used it they probably landed in the hands of "pro-Russian" rebels.

Weapons used: ground to air missle

The 2 planes were taken down at 5200meters and the oekrainien people say the missle's we're fired from Russia (not confirmed)

The Ukrainian jets been shot down is a little bit dated it happened 2 days ago, Ukrainian army is currently shelling using artillery as they've deemed it too risky to use airpower because of the jets been shot down, and are currently advancing on Donetsk proper

Theres a slight irony to all of this, this started over the fact ukraine was moving quickly to be part of europe and expand nato's influence which russia didn't like all to well, but now given the conflict theres talks of a nato base of operations been created in eastern ukraine.
